Re: [IAC#RG] Baba Ramdev, etc

We should give respect and due credit to Baba Ramdev and Swami Agnevesh for their immense contribution.

my answers to the following issues (in Bold):

a) barring exceptions, are religious leaders equipped to handle anti-corruption movements (Yes, when India was a Hindu country it was sans-corruption)

b) should religion be used as a handle to leverage a nation building activity (Of Course, religion unites people, at least this is what happened with Islam)

c) will anti-corruption movements remain opinions on paper or remain localised, due to lack of non-partisan, patriotic, committed visionaries who can lead from the front (unless you support Baba Ramdev and similar social reformers)

If personalities like Baba Ramdev and Swami Agnivesh seek attention, it is really their choice.

But such initiatives must push us to address macro level issues like -

a) barring exceptions, are religious leaders equipped to handle anti-corruption movements

b) should religion be used as a handle to leverage a nation building activity

c) will anti-corruption movements remain opinions on paper or remain localised, due to lack of non-partisan, patriotic, committed visionaries who can lead from the front

Sir

The main worry committed Bhartiya's now have is "Is Ramdev another Agnivesh ?"

This is no easy answer to this question. Agnivesh at his best had only grabbed a few prime Arya Samaj properties, generated a fake Arya Samaj, acted as a spokesperson / go-between for LWEs,  floated a few NGOs to harass industrialists in Haryana and infiltrated various social movements which were only too happy to have him.

In other words, small change compared to Ramdev, who himself was an Sangh plant to keep tabs on Agnivesh and the Congress.

Both these religious leaders together ensured that the anti-corruption movement which was to have started after the CommonWealth Games 2010 failed to take off. The BJP had its own set of mafias which profited hugely from the games, and it was in the interests of both the Congress and BJP to scuttle any effective actions into the scams. They achieved it easily through Agnivesh and Ramdev. The entire 10 member LokPal drafting Committee was a convenient mutual benefit society for Congress and BJP to ensure that nothing got done.

Another tip-off was the involvement of Maulana Masood Madni and Arch Bishop Vincent Concessao in the 2010 post Games protests.  After Agnivesh had been exposed as a Congress plant the Maulana was busy audio-recording  proceedings of IAC's meetings. In short, the entire religious machinery was used as spies and infiltrators to ensure that the mafias got away with the loot.  It is a psychological thing that average human beings are instinctively programmed to "respect" religious figures and not question them too much.

Paraphrasing what somebody had mentioned in context of Orwell and Gandhi -

Can we really trust ANY religious leader to be part of an anti-corruption movement ?

NOT AT ALL !!!

Baba Ram Dev might not be me nor does he need my advice but be assured that he does not need all the lip service and empty posturing by the saffron crowd either as it has brought nothing for him but misery. although not exactly in the same way as it has done in the case of Sandhiv Pragya Singh Thakur.. a feisty young woman who fell for the saffron ideology and has paid a heavy price for a photo opportunity with the big wigs of the BJP and was seen in the picture sitting right behind Sh. Raj Nath Singh and is now rotting in Jail, suffering from breast cancer,  can't even get bail which is her right.but has been denied. Here father  who has recently died had told the press that let the law take its course.and the course of law has become a bit too long for any one's liking. and a good woman is being wasted in jail.

As far as one knows, no one senior from the BJP visited her. The only person who went to see her in prison was none other than good old Baba Ram Dev. So Jai Ho Baba Ram Dev Ji.Ki.  Devinder Thakur.
