[IAC#RG] MR. MODI SHOULD BAN POLYGAMY TO PROTECT WOMEN’S DIGNITY AND CURB POPULATION GROWTH

MR. MODI SHOULD BAN POLYGAMY TO PROTECT WOMEN'S DIGNITY AND CURB POPULATION GROWTH

As we celebrate International women's Day, it is surprising that no one seem to be talking about the practice of polygamy where one man marries several women. This is one of the most uncivilized practices, severely affecting the dignity of women.

While Islam permits polygamy, other religions do not seem to do so. In India, apart from Muslims, politicians, business men and other reckless men marry several women and do not seem to feel ashamed about this.

When one of the former Chief Ministers went on a hunger strike for some cause and was lying on the bed in a public place in front of several cameras, it was seen that one of the wives was sitting near his head and another one was sitting near his legs.

India suffers from over population which leads to several problems. There is urgent need to reduce the population growth for quick economic progress and ban on polygamy will aid this cause. Global population is increasing at 1.9% per year , which leads to higher consumption and consequent more use of fossil fuel resulting in increasing global warming. Ban on polygamy will certainly help reducing population growth and solving global climate crisis to some extent.

Keeping all these factors in view and to protect the dignity of women, Mr. Modi should ban the polygamy practice in India immediately and treat the men who marry several women as criminals. Of course, this will give one more reason for those belonging to Islamic religion to protest against Mr. Modi and the prejudiced politicians and section of media in India will support agitations against the move.

Mr. Modi has shown courage of conviction to ban triple talak which has now been accepted in the country. In the same way, he should ban polygamy and sensible people will support his move.

Re: [IAC#RG] Doval lies exposed : Amazon (not Pakistani drones) delivered bomb components for Pulwama attack

Dear ALL

Whenever I open this thread I do enjoy reading the debates. I guess one just gets added to forums like these. In order to show my appreciation toward the culture of debate and information sharing cannot be anything else but sharing. The audio-visual dominates as the medium, however text is not dead yet. Not just yet.

The material is related to citizenship amendment act and is in HINDI language!

Best.

As per NDTV (yes I know) Amazon (not Pakistani drones) delivered bomb components for Pulwama attack to well known old overground JeM worker in J&K. So viva "Digital India" and the wonders of modern technology.

Of course in the old days back in the last century when I was a bomb researcher, we had to go to shady shops in Chandi Chowk and Wazirpur to get the chemicals for our "research" and to Aligarh, Ghaziabad and Faridabad for the shaped casings.

[IAC#RG] Fwd: OUR INDIA NEEDS TO BE ETERNALLY SECULAR

ADEHERENCE TO SECULARISM

Secularism enshrined in our constitution is very laudable and our leaders who set forth it were great. They were very forward looking and interested in making India a great country. The problem now is that our present leaders are just politicians and pygmies compared to those leaders.

With these politicians who are only interested in winning the next election and ready to throw overboard all their principles, how do we adhere to all jewels which our constitution contains? Unfortunately, all our leaders in the last few decades from all sides of political spectrum are much the same. If Congress kept tilting towards some minorities, BJP tilts towards majoritarianism. Regional parties are no better with their respective tilts towards their vote banks like DMK/ADMK in Tamil Nadu, TMC in Bengal, Samajwadi Party in UP etc with scant regard for overall good.

It is said that people get governance which they deserve. So do we have to bear with the government of the day because we did elect them? If not, the question before us is how we as people we can elect leaders who are true followers of constitution. While I am very optimistic I can see that it will take a long time (perhaps not in our life time) that India will see that maturity and ideals.

A pessimistic view would be that even the oldest democracy like US has not reached that ideal which we are interested in, because even the governments there have sacrificed so many of their defence personnel and spent millions of dollars for highly controversial decisions taken by them.

I would welcome your suggestions.

Our fundamental right to freedom of speech and the very sacred right to dissent in the world's largest democracy can never ever be compromised.  India's very secular fabric needs to be preserved at all costs. Re: [IAC#RG] MAY NIRBHAYA’S DEATH NOT BE IN VAIN

The way the execution of the sentence in this case is being delayed has dismayed me and I am afraid my faith in the Judiciary and the lawyers' community is waning, day by day.

I wonder now if the sentence will ever be carried out.

Let us commend all those Advocates in Delhi who stood by this brave mother.

Despite the highest Court in the country having confirmed the death sentence for this so very heinous crime, the accused have been merrily filing applications all over and that too one by one, as a deliberate well calculated move to delay and derail the due process of law. Convicts must not be allowed to enjoy exploiting the process of law or defeating the judicial system in the country. The law cannot be allowed to be an Ass.

All this misuse of the Judiciary and precious scant Court time is absolutely impermissible. May be, it's high time the government amends the law to ensure that punishment for such grievous crimes should be extremely fair but yet very swift. The law must serve as a deterrent to lawbreakers and not a safe haven for such brutal crimes.

Will it take the child of a ruling politician to be raped and murdered for the Government to awaken to this reality that Justice delayed is Justice denied? This ghastly incident stunned the nation and the world who demanded that justice must be done and be seen to be done quickly. Seven years have now gone by and the convicts are still playing with the machinery of the judicial system. The convicts and the system are still trying the patience of the nation who will stop believing in the justice system, the credibility of the institution and its own power to execute the death sentence.  A system that fails to punish, in the end associates itself with the criminal.

Let all our very sincere prayers and good wishes be with our departed defenseless Nirbhaya and may her dear mother's relentless efforts finally bear that fruit she so desires. May that long delayed Justice be finally done.

Re: [IAC#RG] OUR INDIA NEEDS TO BE ETERNALLY SECULAR

Respected Shenoy ji

You are very correct. The Fundamental Duties include firstly  "To abide by the Constitution and respect its ideals and institutions, the National Flag and the National Anthem; "

All the tweets and videos I have seen of the anti-CAA protests, show that these protestors are holding placards of the Preamble (thereby showing respect) and also waving the national flag (showing they respect the Indian nation) and are singing the national anthem voluntarily.

However, what does the Central Govt Police forces do recently in Delhi ?
They brutally beat up some Muslim boys and force them to sing Vande Mataram instead of National anthem while they are profusely bleeding and  beating them so brutally that 1 of them (Faizan) dies after 48 hours in illegal police custody.

The only more anti-national similar police brutality I recall is when Lt. Col. Prasad Purohit was illegally confined, framed and tortured (in presence of a senior Army Colonel R.K. Shrivastava) by IB and Mumbai ATS cops after Purohit reported to his superiors from 13.Oct.2008 till 15.10.2008 that actually so-called Sadhvi Pragya Thakur (now a BJP MP) is a Hindu terrorist behind the Malegaon bomb blast then being attributed to Muslims by IB.

Is this how the lawkeepers show respect for the national anthem and our national song or to our Army officers ?

So my counter question,

"When the Police does not respect the law and the Indian Constitution, why should citizens do so ?"

Respectfully

Sarbajit Roy

[IAC#RG] How corrupt is Arvind Kejriwal nowadays ?

Dear IAC-ians

As our members may recall,, the period from 26th Sept 2012 to 26th Oct 2012 was a transition period when changeover between "Team Kejriwal" and ourselves were being implemented for IAC.

During this transition period, on 5th October 2015 at a press conference Arvind Kejriwal called in IAC's name alongwith Prashant Bhushan, widely reported at
Arvind said " Robert Vadra acquired properties worth hundreds of crores (of rupees) from nothing. What is the source of these funds" and "between 2007 and 2010 Vadra's wealth grew from Rs. 50 lakh to Rs. 300 crore in three years "

Yet that didn't stop Kejriwal from forming a Government with Robert Vadra's mom-in-law in 2014.

However, in all this what is even more interesting is that since 2014 the BJP, and Mr. Narendra Modi especially, has taken no real stops whatsoever, to get Vadra arrested as promised. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvNAEKNMyqA

HONOR among Thieves ? Choron ki baarat ? Ali Baba aur Chaalis Chor ? Even Modi's poodle Subramaniam Swamy has stopped yelping on this issue and can be seen urging CRPF protection for Robert Vadra https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3jJ2-BqWe0.

Re: [IAC#RG] DELHI POLICE – SINNED OR SINNED AGAINST ?

Dear Prof Natarajan

I suggest that you watch this video from 9:00 mins onwards and see how "Nirbhaya"s male friend shows how she was dying  while Delhi Police had jurisidictional fights as 3 PCR vans fought over which thana the case came under. and No ambulance reached the spot.

Here is another video I took myself of a Delhi Police Sub-Inspector lying bleeding and shot (by his own hand) right outside my home in a post area of Delhi. Incidentally I was the only person who called the Police 100 and described everything, but they reached after 1 hour, Once again no ambulance. Instead of taking their comrade to the nearest hospital only 3 minutes away, they (under instructions)  took him 75 minutes away to AIIMS in dense traffic where he was declared Dead on Arrival. His girirfriend also died 3 hours after reaching AiiMS.

So we residents of this jungle called "National Capital" really don't need foolish / stupid comments from civilised places like Tamil Nadu about how efficient Delhi Police is.

Place your hand on your heart and say who is responsible for the unconscianable delay in this fast track case. Yet we are paying lip- services to the rights of women. At least the duly elected politicians face judgement of citizens every 5 years. All the others including those spreading disinformation or furthering injustice are immune. The other day one Apex court judge was saying that merely because somebody (read party) won 51% majority it does not mean that the opposition had to keep quiet for the next 5 years. Hence he was supporting street protests in the name of freedom of expression. The learned judge seemed to forget that a law passed by the parliament can be challenged only in the Courts and that there are Constitutional provisions to defeat an elected government through a vote of No Confidence and by amending a law by a due process of voting.
Blaming police is a simplistic myopic approach. Pl do not throw the baby with the bathwater.

Dear Mr. Venkatraman

Neither of us should hold any brief for Delhi Police or its parent Ministry (Home Affairs) or their political bosses.

Since I, probably unlike you, interact very regularly with top and bottom level officers in Delhi Police, I can say the following with complete confidence in its truth and veracity

1) Delhi Police is now a force for repression, police brutality and used mainly as an instrument of state enforcement. Although it must be said n their defence that most of the brutality videos on Twitter were actually by Central Police Forces taking out their revenge against Muslims for incidents like Phulwama

2) If a Delhi Police SHO has a choice between
   a) registering an FIR for incitement for communal violence, or
   b) locating a missing pet poodle of his CP's wife, he will do the latter everytime

"Meanwhile, Delhi Police has also become sensitive about the issues related to dogs. Now pet owners are easily getting the registrations of missing complaints done at the concerned police stations.

Dependra Pathak, joint commissioner of police and the spokesperson of Delhi Police said: 'Whenever there will be a complaint, FIR will be registered. Be it for a human or an animal. Cops have also been instructed to take action."

3) In the so-called Nirbhaya gang rape case of Dec 2012, the police registered the FIR (backdated) after 48 hours, and only after 3 magistrates somehow extracted in-seriatim the "proper" dying declaration which whitewashed their political master's role in it. (PS: The convicts seem likely to be hanged tomorrow)

4) The primary "business" of  Delhi Police is collection of bribes which are funneled upwards in the chain where everybody has to meet set targets and receives their "points" of it.

5) The ordinary Delhi Policeman on the streets is completely scared nowadays, and is old and unfit with string of medical conditions, is not prepared to work any more and is only cutting time till retirement. All the younger medically fit ones have got themselves assigned as PSO to some neta or VIP duty. Nobody is doing cutting edge investigation anymore and most crimes are solved on basis of informants or motivated complaints. The "Singham" / "Ab tak Chappan" types are anyway all nowadays paid shooters for the 50 odd top criminal gangs which BJP has set up territorywise in Delhi under their councillors. There is no difference now between Bombay mafia and Delhi mafia, and criminals are often better armed than the cops.

6) Delhi Police was completely demoralised after the fight with lawyers when they saw the high-level coverup by the judiciary to protect lawyers, and police realised that they have to depend on these same lawyers to represent them in the courts.

7) All the active operational deployment of DP is for "VIP" duty and VIP routes. Even the cranes for clearing traffic on roads are diverted to VIP route creating compete chaos for all road users

8) Like in 1984, this time also the Delhi Police did not move till they got green light from high level. They all saw what happened to Sanjeev Bhatt after Gujarat 2002.

9) If anybody is to be garlanded for this monumental cockup it is A) AJIT DOVAL NSA and B) ANIL BAIJAL LG of Delhi. No reasonable person would believe they were not part of it and could not control it if they wanted to.

Almost all section of Indian media and most of the critics have blamed the Delhi police for the riots for two days ,when many innocent lives were lost and many were injured and large scale  property destruction took place.  However, no one seems to be defending the  approach of the police and police men cannot speak out due to the discipline associated with the job.

However, while police  are blamed   severely, the atrocious acts of  arsonists have not been commented upon much, probably under the impression that arsonists and rioters would be only conducting themselves like this. Only the victims were interviewed and the horror  stories prominently highlighted, to create sensation.

Almost all people seem to agree that the riots were pre planned very well and many think that it was part of international Islamic terrorist movement. Obviously, the violence have been planned to coincide with Trump's visit to teach a lesson or two to Trump and Modi,  who are both hated by the Islamic terrorists.

The critics say that intelligence failure in the police is the root cause for the problem and for police blamed for not making  preventive arrests earlier.

However, it should be noted that Islamic terrorists make clever plans with high level of secrecy and believe in surprise attacks and guerilla tactics.  Even advanced country like USA could not prevent the September,11 attack on twin towers.  Equally, several European countries including Russia which have strong intelligence agencies could not anticipate several violent attacks by terrorists in public  places.

While it may be partly true that there have been intelligence failure by Delhi police, it should be recognized that such inadequate intelligence is not uncommon even in developed countries with sophisticated scientific systems, particularly with regard to intelligence on terrorist acts.

However, one gets an impression that Delhi police could have been generally aware of some disturbance to come and perhaps, this is why police force was in strength in trouble spots during the two days of riots.

In all probability , the police force might have been under instructions to handle the situation carefully and tactfully and as softly as possible , during the two days of President Trump's visit.  Probably , police thought that the riots would not be as severe as it was . On the other hand, if the police had taken strong action   against the arsonists  who are motivated and determined extremists, it would have resulted in shootings . In such case, the same media and critics would have blamed the police in severe terms for brutalities and "mass murder". U N Human Rights Council would have "eloquently" commented about the situation and condemned Delhi police.

Apart from sensation seeking Indian media , there are also section of Western media like BBC,  New York Times and some lobbyists in Western countries who seem to be  all the time looking for negative developments in India, probably  to show case that India as restless country with deep communal differences. Such media , while not highlighting the extremely warm and huge reception accorded to President Trump,  only highlighted the violent riots that took place during Trump's visit.

All said and done, the violence ended when President Trump left India and the objectives of Islamic terrorists to paint Indian  Prime Minister in bad light partly succeeded.

My appeal is that  let not doubts be created about the commitment and competence of Delhi police without analysis of the situation.

India is a target place for Islamic terrorists today and they will leave no stone unturned to cause problems for India in variety of ways. The fact is that world is not helping India in fighting against terrorism ,  which include  UNO and all of them are watching from galleries.

In such circumstances, the fight against terrorism in India has  to be essentially faced and won only by India, confronting  the terrorists operating from abroad as well as in India.

Re: [IAC#RG] DELHI POLICE – SINNED OR SINNED AGAINST ?

Dear Mr.
