Did Modi receive over Rs 55 crore from the Sahara Group as the chief minister of Gujarat?

By PARANJOY GUHA THAKURTA | 18 November 2016

The documents, which have been doing the rounds in New Delhi for the last few months, suggest that during his tenure as chief minister of Gujarat, Modi—along with a number of important politicians—was paid large amounts of cash by individuals associated with Subrata Roy, the founder-chairman of the Sahara India Group.

..

These documents also suggest that the recipients of such favours included, among others: Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh; Raman Singh, the chief minister of Chhattisgarh; Shaina NC, the treasurer for the Bharatiya Janata party in Maharashtra and; Sheila Dikshit, the former chief minister of Delhi.

After documents are seized by income tax officials during a raid, these are examined and evaluated by a different officer who then prepares a detailed "appraisal report" outlining the possible future course of action. According to a report by Ritu Sarin and Pragya Kaushika, published in the Indian Express on 16 November, a voluminous appraisal report running into "thousands of pages" on the papers pertaining to Sahara has been prepared and is being looked into by an assessment officer.

Re: [IAC#RG] Did Modi receive over Rs 55 crore from the Sahara Group asthe chief minister of Gujarat?

Dear Shri Sarabjit,
I regret that am not a doctor.
You are right. I rechecked, and I found that Subroto Roy was released from jail in May 2016 on payroll. But he was inside for more than 2 years, and could go back any time. Doesn't seem to get much value for the 55 lacks that he allegedly gave to Modi!

As far as Kejriwal is concerned, yes any one can all him a rogue. In fact anyone can call anyone a rogue (except perhaps the judiciary) in India , as India is not a Fascist state, and freedom of speech is prevails.
The primary objective of demonetization was to hit tax evaders who accumulate black money, and terrorists using black money and counterfeit notes. This seems to be working, though these are early days.

Re: [IAC#RG] Did Modi receive over Rs 55 crore from the Sahara Group asthe chief minister of Gujarat?

RIM Agrees with the government's move against fake/black currency. But the basic questions: what happened to black money stashed in banks overseas?
How many BJP leaders encashed or deposited or exchanged in private hard cash in good volumes between June 20 and November 3, 2016
How much money was spent in the recent marriage of one of BJP's central ministers?
What happened to the list of black money holders submitted to Supreme Court?
Why is the government hurrying up to hush nationalised banks NPA and other bad sectors?
Why the government failed in making adequate preparations to ease low rung commonman's woes?
When the government can permit government bodies to accept old 500/100 rupee notes, why it has miserably failed to allow cooperative sector banks and societies, which form the core of rural servicing?
Why the government failed to allow small retailers to accept the currency to help people?
What is the rationale behind introduction of Rs 2000 note?

Re: [IAC#RG] PUBLIC NOTICE: India Against Corruption's stand on note demonetisation

Yes, everyone supports the spirit behind the scheme. However suggestions given in the mail below are not getting implemented with requisite speed as -

Enough new currency is just not available as printing presses have limited capacity. Enough printing in advance does not seem to have been done.

ATM's do not have the correct size slot for the new 500 Rs notes and there modification is time consuming and has been started after demonetisation. Dispensation of new 500 Rs notes has therefore started in a very small scale a week after the demonetisation.

Apart from non availability of enough newly printed Rs 100 notes, to give the same money value as  Rs 500 note, ATM should have 5 nos slots for Rs 100 notes while they have only one slot. Fast dispensation of Rs 100 notes is not possible in terms of value.

Pain, especially in rural areas, may be a prolonged one.

PUBLIC NOTICE: India Against Corruption's stand on note demonetisation

After extended discussions on IAC's national and regonal networks, the INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION declares its position on the recent demonetisation scheme as follows:-

1) That the INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION fully supports the demonetisation of currency notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 denominations announced on 8.Nov.2016, albeit it taking place 18 months after INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION had demanded this measure from RBI on 6.April.2015 due to rampant fake currency menace affecting common person.

2) That whereas INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION supports Mr. Narendra Modi's action in carrying out this massive financial exercise in secrecy by a few officers of integrity, INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION is equally concerned that some elements within Mr. Modi's party and Govt leaked the scheme thereby diluting its effect aganst the black-marketeers, FICN distributors and hawala operators.

3) That INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION is greatly concerned that aforesaid black-marketeers, FICN distributors and hawala operators are propping up anti-national forces to tap into the increasing public unrest against the poor execution of demonetization scheme on the ground.

4) That INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION is specifically concerned that haawla operators in the diamond, jewellery and beef export trades etc. which are massively dependent on FICN (fake Indian currency notes) are financing so-called "volunteer" forces to cause disturbances on the streets  INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION is especially concerned that IAC's name and impeccable goodwill will be infringed by these anti-national forces to tarnish IAC's reputation through fake volunteers actually from certain political parties opposed to demonetisation.

5) That INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION denounces Shri Anna Hazare for stooping so low to be regularly associating with anti-national forces who are connected to beef export rackets and hawala operators. INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION wonders who is actually controlling Shri. Anna Hazare that he is ignoring all the warnings and cautions which INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION is regularly sending to him at Anna's official email ID against associating with these anti-national forces.

6) That INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION advises its subscribers to be vigilant and report to us any instances of misuse of IAC's name and also the money laundering they observe through banking system, which IAC will report to concerned authorities.

Re: [IAC#RG] PUBLIC NOTICE: India Against Corruption's stand on note demonetisation

DESPITE facing  cash crunch, I do support the move. The govt should monitor round the clock the implementation of the scheme and ensure that the bank employees are given adequate overtime allowance since they are working hard at the cost of security to their lives.Money supply to the banks and post offices should be improved and it must not be overlooked that sowing season in northern India including Hariyana, Punjab and UP  has commenced. Their is shortage of funds. Some urgent steps must be taken there.Post offices and banks are both under staffed .Post offices should be asked to operate on Saturdays,Sundays and all Public Holidays for at least one month. The staffs .should be compensated later.
Most of the opposition parties are lampooning the scheme and further angering the affected people.Anyway, small traders should be provided enough cash of smaller currency notes and coins.Govt must  take note that vested interests are  not leave any stone unturned to fish in the troubled water by inciting the people through  false propaganda.
They have planted people near some banks to speak to TV and print media reporters.
With regards,
PK Chakravarty

Re: [IAC#RG] Did Modi receive over Rs 55 crore from the Sahara Group as the chief minister of Gujarat?

Dear Dr. Kameshwar

Please do not insult our members or IAC by questioning our patriotism.

If you are on this list it is because you are inherently a patriotic person. However, none of us is defined solely by our patriotism.

We would also be obliged if you keep personalities out of this. You may think that Mr. Modi is a great hero whereas I may believe he is a rogue of the highest degree. This is our political perceptions, and we are each entitled to hold our own belief. It is only a FASCIST regime which seeks to do mind-control over its members.

Over here at IAC we shall provide as many differing and divergent points of view to our members so that they can each decide their own point of view. As you can see, we don't shrink from circulating views which criticise IAC.

The very essence of IAC is that we shall eliminate corruption wherever it is found.

So whereas IAC supports the concept of demonetisation considering the high prevalance of foreign origin near perfect fake notes in the country, this is not at all to be construed as blind support for Mr. Modi or his policies or to his foolish brinkmanship with Pakistan.

And just to remind you, I hope that you are clear about patriotism / pseudo-patriotism / false patriotism,

"Patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels"

"Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all other countries because you were born in it."

"One of the great attractions of patriotism—it fulfils our worst wishes. In the person of our nation we are able, vicariously, to bully and cheat. Bully and cheat, what's more, with a feeling that we are profoundly virtuous."

"It is lamentable, that to be a good patriot one must become the enemy of the rest of mankind."

Every person who said the above is a far greater person than you or I can ever be.

sincerely

Sarbajit Roy
