Fight corruption at individual level and see the chain effect

All those concerned about the prevalence of widespread corruption in India seem to think that a strong leadership is required for an anti-corruption movement. On the other hand, what is required is that everyone should start fighting against corruption at individual level in day to day life, which will have a huge chain effect and put fears in the minds of corrupt politicians and government officials. A mass movement is necessary but let not anyone think that mass movement is the only way of fighting corruption.

The problem appears to be that most of the people who complain about corruption themselves indulge in corruption, terming the situation as helpless. Well educated people who earn their income honestly are known to receive or give unaccounted money for selling the property and pay bribes for registering the sale deeds. Many of them pay huge capitation fees for getting the children admitted to schools and colleges and claim they are victims of corrupt conditions. The fact is that they lack the will to fight corruption and are unwilling to make the necessary sacrifices for the anti corruption cause.

It is necessary to realise and point out loudly that the bribe giver is as responsible as the bribe taker for the corrupt conditions in India. While the corrupt politicians and bureaucrats should be hauled up, we need to fight for the cause of probity and let us not be waiting for a leadership to come from nowhere. Let every individual be a leader to himself and lead the anti-corruption movement at his level.

I wish that every member of India Against Corruption should declare that he would never give or take bribe under any circumstances. Then only the anti corruption movement will really emerge and become strong and produce the results that the nation needs.
