Dear MKG Prashant may be a CHEAP advocate, but his brother is a much BETTER advocate. There have also been whispers that sometimes advocates who take on cases at much below market prices do so to profit by selling their clients down the river (since we have many advocates on this list, they can better explain the meaning of this proverb to you) All those names are already on our hit list Sarbajit On Wed, Apr 13, 2011 at 8:22 PM, M.K. These may be Justice Santosh Oza, Swami Agnivesh, Medha Patkar, Swami Ramdev, Aamir Khan, Anupam Kher, Rajni Kant and any other who supported this movement deligently. After all, he is an the profession and has to run his kitchen apart from office and staff expenses. I invite offer from any member/ advocate who is ready to do this service for free or on cost to cost basis. I shall be first person to give him some cases on a fee ranginng from 5 to 10 thousand per case. --- On Tue, 12/4/11, Abhimanyu <who.will.file.rti@gmail.com> wrote: From: Abhimanyu <who.will.file.rti@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [HumJanenge] Corrupt Rich India versus Poor Real India To: humjanenge@googlegroups.com Date: Tuesday, 12 April, 2011, 3:26 PM let us not defame Prashant Bhushan on case to case basis . he may be very busy to take up small cases . he may be avoiding small cases to concentrate on big cases. similary may i ask how many RTI cases sarbajit has taken up and followed till second appeal on behalf of some other persons ??? once I requested sarbajit to take up my RTI case from his address , he plainly refused.( if he agrees even today i have one RTI matter for sarbajit to take up ) so whats wrong if prashant bhushan is not taking up some cases .

(Let me for the moment not inform the group about my opinion on the outcome of Diwan's RBA Nelson Mandela matter.)
As the latest notification discloses, Mr Prashant Bhushan is apparently only an advocate (ie. not senior advocate) of SC, yet he charged Rs. 5,000 for poor people like Mr Diwan.
Under the SC Legal Aid scheme, poor people get a senior advocate almost free of charge. Middle class people get a senior advocate at about Rs.6,500 for the duration of the case plus copying/bindling charges at the fixed rate.
If one was to pay for an advocate, it is generally considered that you would be much better off opting for Prashant Bhushan's brother (I think his name is Jayant Bhushan).
I know of at least 2 cases (both RTI related) where Prashant Bhushan has left his poor clients in the lurch and simply returned their papers in the middle of the case without any explanation - I am now informally assisting 1 of them as his case is tagged to one of mine..

Parshant Bhushan fought the Ridge Bachao Andolan case in Supreme Court against DDA and others for a fee of Rs. 5000/. I was the petitioner in the case. We managed to save the adjoining part of ridge at Nelson Mandela Marg, courtesy this case; otherwise, DDA would have auctioned the entire stretch at this road; you know how valuable it is, being at such a prime location.
Taking up cases for the poor; I think, there are only two- three lawyers in Supreme Court who fight for the poor without any fees. Parshant Bhushan is one of them. Instead of castigating such souls, we should recognize the good deeds by them that would inspire other lawyers too.
At the same time, Baba Ramdev's objection look logical. But, we have to see that these two people are highly meritorious and indispensable to the process of drafting Jan Lok Pal Bill. Both have already been involved in the process.

Any whre dynastic decisions particulalry in politics have ruined this country and you are voting for it. Mr. Prashant Bhushan is billionnaire. He takes the cases of only rich people (corrupt rich India and not of common man - the Real India). Baba Ram Dev has raised an important question. A person who does not know how much injustice is done to poor people, how can he represent their aspirations? Do you know his fee for a CASE? On my personal experience, I can say that Baba Ram Dev,s opposition is well justified. Gight against corruption is long perhAPS a few generations will have to fight. In the beginning itself, Anna Hazare Ji should not have accepted this without having got litmus test like Congress CM of Delhi refusing to take action against a corrupt minister on the recommendation of Delhi Lok Ayukta who earned powers on the basis of Dellhi Lokayukta Act of 1998. Rathwer she is challenging his authority. This may happen when Jan Lok Pal Bill chairman makes any recommendation against a minister or bureacrat and a corrupt P.M. may not take any action. Real India will have to remain a mute spectator. UPA Govt. in the Centre particularly Congress and DMK wanted to buy time to reduce negative effects of this agitation AND SIBAL HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL. | | Shri Shanti Bhusanji is just not a former Law Minister, rather he was known fighter against political corruption, since he fought Famous Election Petition in Allahabad High Court on behalf of Shri Raj Narayan against Smt. Indira Gandhi. He is one of the important legal luminaries of India. Shri Prashant Bhusanji, no doubt is son of Shri Shanti Bhusanji, but he himself proved as very competent Supreme Court Lawyer, without taking any advantage of the name and fame of his father. He filed several petitions, concerned to Larger Public Interests and also against corruption related matter. He was dare to face contempt Petition initiated against him in the Supreme Court, because he raised a very important issue, of ethnic values. Both Shri Shanti Bhusanji and Shri Prashant Bhusanji involved in drafting of Jan Lokpal Bill. I think we could not have able to suggest any better name for Co-Chairman than Shanti Bhusanji. If we opposing the name of Shri Prashant Bhusanji, we are trying to damage the efficacy which may contain in the Lokpal Bill, if its drafted by the present Drafting Committee, having with its members including Shri Shanti Bhusanji and Shri Prashant Bhusanji. Therefore, this is my appeal to Swami Ramdevji, kindly withdraw his opposition against appointment of Shri Shanti Bhusanji and Shri Prashant Bhusanji by Shri Anna Hazare, and should forward his full support to Committee's Penal Members from Civil Society.
