Re: [rti4empowerment] Hope SC givesi judgement to save identity of RTI applicant

It is not clear from your mail if you are Abhimanyu or Jitendra Gupta.

It is better if you yourself file the application as it may also required follow-up to the first or second appeal/complaint level.

Filing of RTI application by proxy is not an ethical and good practice and due to this, govt. intends to ask the purpose of seeking information.  Such practice gives the govt. handle to try for amending the RTI Act or beat the RTI Act with that handle.

So far, I have filed many RTI applications without any fear, even risking my security at times in some casess, as in unearthing the DDA Housing Scheme, 2008 alleged scam.  Even, once, for this I got threatening calls too at mid-night and after reporting to the police, calls were stopped.

We should be a fearless citizens if v really want some change in govt. working and check corruption.  For that purpose, some may have even to make sacrifice too. RTI is nothing but a letter which cannot be (easily) be filed or consigned to the dustbin.

The exemption is from the disclosure of purpose for asking about the information and not personal name and address which must be given.  RTI is only for the Indian citizens.  It is wrong to presume that the requester is not required to give his name and contact details.

Hope some day in some case the Supreme court gives this judgement also, that since RTI allows any document that is a public document which should otherwise be publish on respective government website and any citizen that demand information of such document under his right to information, when demanding such information, it should .not be necessary for citizen to reveal his personal identity. Personal identity of applicant may otherwise be used or leaked by those in authority to victimise the applicant, and all such information the applicant should have right to receive even by email without his personal appearance or giving his postal address.
