Dear Sirs,
Why do we look to UK and USA as model countries for drafting/amending laws?
As it is we are critical that the country adopted laws made by the Britishers and the mindset counties to be the same.
We are an Asian country and our ethos are different from the west. Why dont we look around what is happening in the neighbouring countires.
I believe leader of oposition - Sushma swaraj spoke about Arab countries where laws are very strict and crimes including rape are minimum. These countries are governed by Sharia laws and they are not apeing the west in their dress code and free mixing of the sexes.

Your direct points about no CCing and BCC is very well absorbed by our members (and can be dispensed with henceforth).
I fail to see what is wrong with the Bill which seeks to make non-penetrative sex in certain EXCEPTIONAL circumstances NOT a criminal offence. It is a very progressive legislation and must be understood in its historical context of the Indian Penal Code - where even premeditated murder by an 11 year old is not an offence.
I think you have not read the Times of India story contained within your link carefully. I am posting the direct link for your benefit and the benefit of people on this list who only scan your alarmist headlines.

It is also pertinent to mention that in 2011 the Govt (Law Ministry) wanted to retain 16 years as the age for consensual sex. It was some liberals in the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights group that drafted the alternate Bill to decriminalise sexual exploration by two children. and do the gradation of age down to 12 years.
The IAC list is a premier mailing list of India. We are already a premier activist group of the country. It is very important that we get our facts straight and well researched instead of circulating messages on behalf of other people.
