Re: [IAC#RG] Supreme Court Collegium

dear Veterans & Fellow Citizens ,
complex issues need NOT have complex solutions! the bane of all our public institutions is the cloak of secrecy around them . it promotes corruption &  nepotism  and incompetent thrive at the cost of the efficient , honest & diligent members of society.
collegium with or w/o politicians ,if working w/o well defined selection criteria & working behind close doors will deliver what we have got thus far ! who thinks the ROT has not seeped in the judiciary? have we forgotten the list of corrupt judges circulated by Mr Prashant Bhushan ? have we forgotten how the bench in the SC,hearing Gen VKSingh's appeal, advised his counsel to see which way the wind was blowing . these are just a few landmark instances to high light the grim reality.
the Army too has a collegium  system for hearing the grievances of senior officers & selection for promotion at very senior levels. the cloak of secrecy and rather subjective yardsticks for drawing comparative merit for selection led too many abberations and consequent representations . this forced the Delhi HC to intervene &  order laying down of "numerical quantification of criteria for drawing relative merit amongst senior officers of same batch ". are the members of the judiciary not human & hence prone to human failings? if the answer is yes, then  they too must lay down very specific criteria for selection of their brethren to the higher judiciary and incorporate transparency in the proceedings of the collegium  .

Dear All,
I agree with Sri Raizada. In absence of Collegium entrance for politicians would be wide open.It is well known that even active politicians were given chance.Once a
committed Judiciary was a call. All aspects need to be considered before criticizing
a system.

The issue does not seem to be that simple. To maintain the independence of the judiciary, the Supreme Court Collegium evolved. If you let politicians get into this, it is easy to understand that the rot will also seep into the judiciary (even though, there is corruption in judiciary as such even now).

Dear All, Supreme Court Collegium, to me, is worst than Khap Panchayat
that atleast work openly unlike Collegium working secretly.  It is
hightime that the Collegium is declared Arbitrary, Undemocratic,
