Agree, criticism of the scheme is misplaced. However its implementation on ground and justifications given for method of implementation has been awful.
In cash driven market, money supply reduced to 15% overnight. Its effect on economy not factored in. During recession, money was pumped in to their system by developed countries. 85% contraction in money supply in our case has caused a short term recession, effect of which may last much longer. Production has reduced as owners unable to procure raw material and also unable to pay workers.
Why dispense only Rs 2000 notes in the beginning, which could not be used by anyone, except by people whose sole objective was to replace black with white. People / merchants who could have used Rs 2000 notes as such, had facility to use the Cards as well. Poor people got these notes which no subziwala/rationwala could take for want of smaller denominations.
I tried to withdraw some money today for first time - got some Rs 2000 notes and some Rs 10 denominations only. No other denomination was available. Thankful, I will be able to pay for Car parking.
Demonetisation news spread instantaneously by electronic media - speed of light. Officials took much longer to understand implications - giving enough time to unscrupulous elements to swindle old, infirm, poor, illiterate people in urban as well as rural areas. They now consider loss of their meagre but life savings as 'Will of God'.
In metro town such people were making round of Banks for days together to find where the Q is short enough for their turn to come before cash exhausts, fate of rural & tribal areas with Banks being miles away, can only be imagined.

I consider it unfortunate that an excellent scheme of the PM is criticised on flimsy grounds.
The scheme has halted progress of fake money and activities of terrorism and that by itself is a good achievement.
