Let me make you master of Indian Politics in 5 minutes (I have 10 PhDs in this subject)
Let us assume that YOU are a "BUYER" for something which is easily available through a few "SELLERS" who are highly networked among themselves, and which something is also available from the open market in small quantities directly from the producers (who are even willing to give it away for free).
Let us say that this something product is a "potato/ aloo/batata/ ಆಲೂಗಡ್ಡೆ" etc and there is a mandi/wholesale market for potatos where the price is decided by a cartel and it is also decided mutually which COLD STORAGES will purchase the bulk of potatos (could also be onions or tomatoes) to supply all year round.
Of course a Buyer could also go to the open market and try to convince small / tiny producers to sell their small potatoes directly to him. But the smart ones don't. In fact the smart buyers with very deep pockets send their agents to mop up all floating supply of potatos available with aam aadmi. This drives up the price of potatos for the buyers with not so deep pockets.
The Buyers (who nowadays have became very FAT, LAZY and CORRUPT like typical Lalas) knows very well what efforts and money the lean, mean, honest, hardworking WHOLESALE SELLERS have put in to keep these Potatos in Cold Storage just waiting/ready to be brought to market in ripe condition.
Today there are so many Buyers with ready cash prepared to pay anything (sky is limit) to Wholesalers and Commission agents who have truckloads of potatos neatly packaged which can be delivered reliably.
In such a situation, when it is a very small market, it does not profit any buyer to insult a seller (even a small seller) - it may have a ripple effect - also known as "Wave" theory.
So be careful. Business is business and emotions have no place in it.

Dear Sarbajit,
