NCPRI activist demands RTI fee be hiked to Rs. 50

India's most prolific letter writer and and RTI activist associated with the National Campaign for People's Right to Information (NCPRI) has demanded that the Government hike the price of filing Freedom of Information (RTI) requests to public authorities to Rupees 50 from the present rate of Rupees 10.

The activist Subhash Chandra Agarwal, a Rotarian presently actively associated with NCPRI working with former NAC member Aruna Roy, has been plagued by a rash of imitators filing fake RTI petitions in the Guiness record holder's name.

The NCPRI has organised a public protest meeting today outside Inda's Parliament to raise these and other demands, including that the RTI Act 2005 must be suitably amended in the current monsoon session for political parties to be brought within the ambit of India's Freedom of Information legislation.
