There is some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for.

To fight and conquer in all our battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.

There are not fifty ways of fighting, there's only one, and that's to win. Neither revolution nor war consists in doing what one pleases.
Andre Malraux

"I know nothing of philosophical philanthropy. But I know what I have seen, and what I have looked in the face in this world here, where I find myself. And I tell you this, my friend, that there are people (men and women both, unfortunately) who have no good in them--none. That there are people whom it is necessary to detest without compromise. That there are people who must be dealt with as enemies of the human race. That there are people who have no human heart, and who must be crushed like savage beasts and cleared out of the way."

Ms. Singh,

What has  to be won is not a single battle but a war! For fighting a war tenacity & sustenance is required. Being highly motivated is one aspect & being a good strategiest is another.

Motivation causes a very high emotional upsurge & when one becomes emotional reasoning becomes blunt. Actions & omissions in a state of emotion are bound to prove disasterous. Youth or energy one has at that time is just as an unbriddled horse which gallops gay abandon! Only when it is reined it becomes rideable. Remember pen is mightier than the sword. Battle  taken to the streets will not  last. It can be quelled by treating it as an unlawful assembly. It has to be within the ambit & scope of The Constitution of India & true meaning of Democracy.

Zetgeist is  a German word, a language wherefrom English derives its genesis, is  used to describe the success of an event which thitherto was not considered would be a success. A chance happening, a spirit of time.  With Anna Hazare rife on the scene, it may be an event destined to happen that is what many may think. However, one cannot be euphoric. Correct planning & execution is a must considering all pros & cons.  With pluralist scociety prevailant in India, something similar to what happened in Egypt cannot be expected. Even in Egypt people paid a very heavy price! Do not expect duplication of it in India where most are keen on stashing gold biscuits in their pocket with corruption prevalent being butter applied on slice of bread for them!

Critical mass derived from nuclear physics relevant to that minimum amount of mass of that fissionable material to maintain nuclear chain reaction, may be a perception of times given the aftermath of Anna Hazare's fast. Recalling that the tempo has not reached the crescendo after he ended fast! The populist movement of independence struggle of Gandhian time can seldom be expected to replicate!

There has to be a fool proof & failsafe strategy.

Dear Weds,
Nothing's gonna stop us now--goes the song from the group Starship.I remember Abhigyan Jha ,who is on an RTI group with me,mentioned the words"zeitgeist" and "critical mass".Well,the zeitgeist or the spirit of the times is upon us and the momentum we develop will give us the critical mass.Let us drop our differences and come together.Let us let loose our propaganda foot-soldiers. Let the war-cry go out:"INDIANS OF INDIA UNITE,YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE BUT YOUR CORRUPTION".
I,too,have been speaking about uniting everyone.You may or may not be aware.Our unity is now a work in progress--soon to be a finished product!
Jai Hind!Jai Bharat!

Dear Ms. Singh,

Agreed. But, do we have any concrete plans? Remember what the wise said ages ago. Before striking at the enemy assess enemy's strength. There should be good startegy to proceed.  As you too may have observed, despite common agreement, there has not been anything  put in practise to evolve solidarity among persons using RTI to expose corrupion by filinig similar application from number of persons from different locations of India to that same public authority so that asingle person is not exposed. This was advocated by me since 5 years!

Secondly, Filing collectively applicationsn under RTI to various public authorities for disclosures under section 4 of RTI Act.2005. That is why I had remarked as priorities today are very many & varied for different persons a massmovement is an utopian expectation. Ruefully, I am to state that we are trying to axe a mamoth  banyan tree!

Dear WEDS,
The one and only imperative for us is to go and spread the word far and wide and deep into the roots and heart of India.It is the ONLY way. And we have to organise our very own "proper-ganda" propaganda army for this.Had our people been educated from word go,we would not have this abyssmal level of ignorance and apathy.
We,as Indians,DO have a common enemy-and that is capitalism.Our Constitution is avowedly socialistic but we did not care to express that at the outset,so in the meanwhile the country was hijacked by the Tatas,etc.  But it's never too late. Let's start now and fulfil the latent promise of our Constitution.
Warm regards

Dear Ms. Singh & others,

As there was no awareness among people of India of their rights, the elected government functioned as unbirdled horses, behaving as they were monarchs in true sense. Although irreparable damage has been done, a concerted coordinated effort by all organisations all over India may achieve some result. However, I am sceptical of it turning into a mass movement as people say(I was not born then) it was during independence struggle led by  Noble Soul (Mahatma) M.K.Gandhi. At that time White Skinned man was common enemy for all. Today we are a devided house. Priorities are very many & varied. We do not have any punitive or penaltative means to contain these ulawfulness or violation of laws, provisions of Constitution of India by Constitutional functionaries. Even the proposed  Lokpal is going to be another farce just as information Commissions/ners. With only 10% of Indian population  concerned over these aspects 76% struggling to eke out  living & for rest 14% who are so rich that nothing matters except money it may be a battle lost before it is fought.

Ours is a socialist state.I have skimmed thru the article on the public trust doctrine.I have frequently written letters to the editor of at least 2 dailies quite often on the State's abandonment of its duty to the  public(very often I think they don't get printed).We all have to work together already too much damage is done.We have to work together.Do what we can.Divide up duties amongst ourselves.

Dear All,

Some excerpts from an article received unsolicited. It is attached. Please spare time to read it albeit it is 18 pages but very informative.

Art.51 A of The Constitution of India lays a Fundamental Duty on every citizen as follows:

It shall be the duty of every citizen of India— (a) to abide by the Constitution……(i) to safeguard public property and to abjure violence;

The doctrine enjoins upon the Government to protect the resources for the enjoyment of the general public rather than to permit their use for private ownership or commercial purposes.

The sovereign {The State} cannot, therefore, transfer public trust properties to a private party if the grant would interfere with the public interest.

Under the doctrine of Public Trust, various land acquisitions by State & allocation of it to private parties  can be challenged not only by invoking Art 51 A. of The Constitution of India but also this Doctrine, imputing The State for breach of Public Trust, defrauding Public, acting as land mafia or playing into their hands, corruption, ineffective management of natural resources (land is a natural resource)etc.,
9.    Art. 39 of The Constitution of India. 39. The State shall, in particular, direct its policy towards securing—

(a) that the citizens, men and women equally, have the right to an adequate means of livelihood; (Highway deprives right OF ADEQUATE means of livelihood for MANY)

(b) that the ownership and control of the material resources of the community are so distributed as best to subserve the common good; (THERE ARE AMPLE  EXAMPLE OF STATE ACTING IN CONTRARY TO THIS)

(c) that the operation of the economic system does not result in the concentration of wealth and means of production to the common detriment; (THERE ARE AMPLE  EXAMPLE OF STATE ACTING IN CONTRARY TO THIS)

(d) that there is equal pay for equal work for both men and women;

(e) that the health and strength of workers, men and women, and the tender age of children are not abused and that citizens are not forced by economic necessity to enter avocations unsuited to their age or strength;

[(f) that children are given opportunities and facilities to develop in a healthy manner and in conditions of freedom and dignity and that childhood and youth are protected against exploitation and against moral and material abandonment.]

39A. The State shall secure that the operation of the legal system promotes justice, on a basis of equal opportunity, and shall, in particular, provide free legal aid, by suitable legislation or schemes or in any other way, to ensure that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen by reason of economic or other disabilities.

Sir,
Allotment of plots & granting other monetary awards is the rubbish decision of Governments. The players have not done anything for the country. Whatever they have achieved is for their personal gains only. And they have won the cup utilising the natural resources of the country only.

Remember Abhinav bindra got crores for show of his shooting skills. Compare with what a soldier get when he lays his life by practicing the same skills in strict real conditions. That is why almost on every half year we read in daily news papers that our defence forces lack this much post of able officers despite plenty of unemployment in the country.

Summarily speaking the monetary gains to players in comparision to actual heros is much - much disproportionate.

I personally disagree with govt. decision and urge all able persons to realise from this angle too.

Dear All,

It is a matter of pride that Indian Cricket team won world cup. Has anyone given thought  Wherefrom President of India, CMs of Delhi, Karnataka, Mumbai Jharkhand, Union Railway Minister etc., derive the empowerment or authority to squander public funds to benefit private Individuals by granting Rs. 1 crore & plots/flats etc to cricketers when 76% of Indian population subsist by earning Rs 25 per day?  What is the benefit these cricket players have given to general public? Why stash their pockets when they are already billionaires?

Why not file a PIL just as some Pakistanis have filed for awarding Rs. 5 lac per cricketer there?

Regards,
WEDS
