Anti-graft "Jan Lokpal" bill won't end corruption - experts

Lokpal of any sort by any name has first to be "A Trust Law", which it is not so today. It will not end pervasive corruption in India. An independent ombudsman with court-like powers prosecute ministers, bureaucrats and judges tapped into widespread anger over a spate of graft scandals that are still plaguing Manmohan Singh government. under immense pressure from civil society and opposition parties. PM even had some activists in the body drafting and 'somehow'that passed 'a bill' now.

Let's not believe that the Lokpal is going to be a super body to put everything right. "Lokpal may be a great idea, but not a one-stop solution," according to Justice Verma, former CJI .

It is a "centralised bill" that has given some "centralised solutions"! It won't help tackle graft at grassroots level.

Who will protect whistleblowers and also distract bribe givers? Could we help those ending up paying, for fear prosecution?

India is ranked 87th of 178 countries in Transparency International's 2010 corruption perceptions index. Graft has long been a part of daily life, but the recent scandals - which include violations in granting telecoms licences that cost the country $39 billion in lost revenue - are unprecedented.

Let me be called a pessimist.

I believe Anna has timed cleverly his recent fast.

Are we happy in his congratulating Rahul as saviour?

Awaiting his helping Cingress in the Finals.

BTW isn't it too late in the day .. fir the nomination?

I'm not against the suggestion. 

Sad he left 'an efficient right hand' in Arvind. 

Not happy totally disowning at a quite inappropriate moment.

 लोकपाल की भी दलाली. अगर सार्वजनिक तौर पर बोलें तो कांग्रेस ने लोकपाल
कार्ड जनहित में खेला है. अगर राजनैतिक तौर पर बोलें तो कांग्रेस ने
लोकपाल का कार्ड अन्ना को रिझाने के लिए खेला है. और अगर सच बोलें तो

इधर 8 दिसम्बर को केजरीवाल ने 28 विधायकों को जीताकर देश की राजनीति में
इतिहास रचा और उधर सिब्बल और कमलनाथ ने इन विधायकों का जवाब विधेयक से
देने का ट्रम्प कार्ड फेंका. बाकी तैयारी पहले से ही थी. दोस्तों, जिस
डील में संतोष भारतीय हों वहां असंतोष हो ही नहीं सकता. भारतीय
फर्रुखाबाद से हैं और खुला खेल फर्रुखाबादी खेलने के लिए मशहूर है.

बहरहाल केजरीवाल का कद बढ़े -घटे या अन्ना के सर लोकपाल की जीत का सेहरा
बंधे ....ये अहम नहीं है. अहम ये है की भ्रष्टाचार पर काबू पाने के लिए
जो विधयेक लाया जा रहा है उस पर भी डील हो रही है. दलालों ने लोकपाल के
लिए भी सरकार से डील कर ली है. (क्या इसके आगे कुछ लिखा जा सकता है)
