Re: [HumJanenge] Re: RTI challenges

Dear Nikit

Please believe when I say that I understand and agree with the
sentiment behind your message. I also appreciate your usage of starred
terms <smile>

I shall truthfully reply that YES I think the issue of why Sonia
Gandhi's and Rahul Gandhi's religion and caste details as recorded in
PUBLIC Govt records is not accessible in RTI to citizens is a matter
of incredible public concern.

I am not interested in the politics of this. For me all political
parties / politicians are equally unsavoury and corrupt.

The specific reason why I want this information is to test the
integrity / honesty / equity of the RTI delivery system. If this group
which has so many people knowledgeable about RTI cannot get access to
PUBLIC records using RTI then the RTI scheme stands exposed as a
massive fraud. I personally cannot accept an RTI appellate scheme
which says Mr X is entitled to inspect records submitted in
coinfidence by Sarbajit Roy (over my detailed objections) but not that
of Sonia Gandhi (because she appointed me as an Information
Commissioner) which are in any case in the public domain as per
pre-existing law.

Finally, if the discussion here is poor, it is because the good and
honest people choose to keep quiet.

I hope you understand what I am saying here.
