Re: [IAC#RG] Supreme Court Collegium

Its a system of self governance. three tiered as  discussed already.The first tier is village Gram sabha; second tier is Tappa, a goup of about 10-20 villages; the third tier is hundreds of villages; at some places like Delhi, it involved 360 villages of Delhi. Jharsa 360 is the name of Khap that has been prevalent in Gurgaon and included 360 + villages of this region including many from Mewat region. Sonepat 360 includes 360 or more villages around Sonepat.

It had varied functions like defence, administration, social and judicial. To understand the system of functioning, lets take an example: a person not satisfied by the decision of Gram sabha can approach the Tappa panchayat and a assembly of all villages of the Tappa were invited. If still not satisfied with the decision of Tappa, he could approach and call for a khap panchayat involving 360 villages. Everyone from these villages are free to participate.
