Dear Mr Devasahayam & Friends,
Both the articles below are an excellent analysis of the ground realities.
Root causes of malice of democracy in our country are well summarised in these two articles:
"1 . But the moot question is what kind of politicians get elected? Nearly a third of Members of Parliament-158 of 543 to be precise, face criminal charges.
2 In India it has always been the case: politics as a family enterprise "
Nitish Kumars in the politics can be counted on finger tips
It boils down to :
Competent, dedicated, honest & patriotic people need to go to the Parliament , Assemblies & Municipal Corporations. But majority of the present politicians who control the political arena will not allow such class to come up.
Mr TN Seshan, a no nonsense bureaucrat ( Ex Cabinet Secy & later CEO) is a living example. No party was willing to support him to enter their exclusive area of operation.
Anna Hazare & Team refuse to fight elections ever . They say that they will loose against money & muscle power .
Probably Pressure Groups with support of Common Man will bring the desired change.
A positive beginning has been made .
Regards
Prem Gaba

Sant Mathur has hit the nail on its head. Media manufactured Messiahs are holding sway with half/quarter-baked governance/anti-corruption agenda that is misleading the youth. These worthies have no knowledge of the architecture of India's governance and are spreading the false belief that one more unworkable law or despotic institution will deliver India from horrendous corruption.
Talking about political parties/reforms my recent published article below may be of interest:
