Thank you for the clarification.

Dear Vidyut,

It is a matter of great sorrow that a young police constable was stabbed to death by some criminal elements. That none of the leaders visited him in the hospital - as was bemoaned by his son who said that leaders go to visit Amitabh Bacchan for minor ailments but could not go to visit his dying father - is also a matter of great shame. Such things let down our country and our brave boys and girls demonstrating for justice.

Now, regarding your email. I was dismayed to receive this email from with the title "Injured Delhi Police constable beaten by AAP dies". I expect this kind of headlines from our media - not from mature IAC members, especially ones whose email address proclaims wide awareness. This IAC forum prides itself on its social conscience and devotion to honesty. Unsubstantiated statements such as in your subject line and baseless accusations as made in your email content are unbecoming.

Please read the Dainik Jagaran today or speak to anyone who was present in the court when the "accused" were brought there by the police. The judge roundly scolded the Police for bringing such a frivolous case - "without a shred of evidence" and he let everyone go on a very symbolic bail amount. If there had been any evidence whatsoever, you can rest assured that the accused would have been sent to judicial custody.

I request you not to get carried away by your prejudices and investigate the matter before posting such emails, especially with such loaded subject matter. Apart from being misleading, such "headlines" are irresponsible. I also request you not to take what you see or hear on TV at face value. Double check your facts, because our media has lost much credibility and their headlines are often misleading and sensationalist. The same news item is so differently presented in channels with different loyalties that sometimes one wonders what to believe.

For the record, Arvind Kejriwal has said that whoever was guilty of this crime should be punished to the fullest extent of the law regardless of whether he is a member of AAP or not. If he is a member of AAP and has done such a thing, we will support greater punishment for him, if legally possible, for he would have added hypocrisy to his other crimes and misled us, too.

I do hope that the culprit will be identified and solid evidence produced against him. He deserves to be hanged, regardless of which political party or organisation he belongs to, more so if he professes to be an AAP member.

Best wishes,

Kishore Asthana

Some more fascinating coincidences.

BJP supporters are convinced it was NSUI.
Congress supporters convinced it was ABVP.
People arrested on the basis of video footage ALL got bailed by Manish Sisodia.

Kind of makes you wonder about all the conspiracy theories about Cogress, RSS, Kejriwal, etc.

Regardless, the joker clearly is no longer into non-violence. The warning signs had been there with warnings by Kejriwal of frustrated crowds getting violent during the JanLokpal andolan, then Ramdev threatening to train a group for an uprising, etc. I guess the account is now formally open.

Welcome to politics Kejriwal, not all that different, are you?
