The Secretary/DoPT/MoP/GoI
Date: 14 March,2012
Respected Sir
Sub: F.No.4/26/2009-IR OM dated Oct 29 2011
I refer to the subject OM concerning applications for consideration
for post of Central Information Commissioner at the CIC.
I had submitted my application as per the proforma indicated, and
followed it up with some emails when I came to know that certain
persons were lobbying for the post
I am given to understand 3 Information Commissioners have been
appointed recently, all of whom were public servants, unlike me. As it
is not clear to me if experience as a public servant is a criteria for
the post, I beg to be informed the precise reason(s) for my own
non-selection, if such is indeed the case..
I am also given to understand that 3 vacancies remain to be filled
shortly, and beg to be informed if I am still being considered for the
position of Central Information Commissioner and what the prescribed
procedure for selection of Information Commissioners, if any, which
are in addition to that specified in the parent Right to Information
Act 2005 is.
I would be obliged if this communication is duly acknowledged.
Yours sincerely
Sarbajit Roy
