[IAC#RG] Is Indian Media Really Free ?

On 12 Sep 2015, starting from 10 am to 4 pm, at Jantar Mantar, there were around 20,000 to 25,000 ex service men, women, families, friends and civilian brothers and sisters reminding the government to restore the brutally snatched honor and respect of the Armed Forces in 1973 when after delivering an unprecedented victory in 1971 war, IG led govt reduced the pension of its AFs from 70% to 50% and raised the pension of the civil servants from 30% to 50%. No pbm in raising the pension of the civil servants at all but the impunity of reducing the pension of its AFs has made India the only country in the the world earning dubious distinction of showing the arrogance of reducing the pension. No country ever reduces the salary and the pension of any of its institutions. OROP protest is meant to impress upon the government to gracefully undo that injustice of 1973 and restore the honor to the AFs.

Such a legitimate peaceful protest for a national cause of its AFs, the Indian media did not find it worthy of reporting the truth about the rally despite the fact there was an OB van from most TV Chs standing ready to give live coverage. Sheena murder can find 10-12 days of coverage in all TV Chs but such unprecedented rally unheard of in the history of all democratic countries would keep the TV Chs away leaves a huge doubt in the mind of the citizens as to whether Indian media is actually free or is the biggest hypocrite displaying tickers non stop in their Chs that they follow self regulations. What about the Press Council of India ? Would it have been better had the organisers invited  CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera etc to really report the truth on ground about the massive rally ? Indian govt needs to wake up before it invites global criticism and nations think twice before investing in India.
