Dear Ms. Chaudhury@Tehelka
cc: India Against Corruption
Kindly refer to the attached PDF of an email to you as accessed by me
from Google's cache of the Hindustan Times (very shortly after it was
purged there per Aman Sethi's public appeal on Twitter and elsewhere).
I presume it is a substantially true copy considering its source.
I am glad to see that you have finally listened to India's voice and
set up a committee.
A committee, as we both know, is a useful device to delay and defuse
hot potatoes.
However, on behalf of India, I would like to express our deep outrage
at the alcohol fueled binges your magazine apparently hosts for film
actors, lawyers and politicians (as described in the email).
India strongly suggests that Tehelka immediately stops accepting
surrogate ads from liquor companies as a matter of policy, and also
atones by regularly (ie. in every edition) educating your readers on
the evils of alcohol while Tarun Tejpal is thankfully away.
