Re: [HumJanenge] Re: Please think of the Nation

Dear Mr Sarbajit and friends,

India has the following types of hugely responsible top ministers and top babus who have shown to the people their true worth nothing more than selfish people for whom their own false image comes first and country last :-

(a) Mr Lallu Prasad - "Desh Roubb se chalta hai", "hatao", sack the Army chief. Mr Lallu does not know that countries run on roubb eventually break up in the end like the erst while Soviet Union whereas those run through wisdom, intelligence and where required roubb prosper. Sack the Army Chief remark is to shoot the messenger who dares to unearth the truth.

(b) Mr TSR Subramaniam - compares the safety, security, defense and honor of the country both from within and out side threats with production and sale of tons of fertilizer and chemicals. The safety, security, defense and honor of a nation involves loss of precious lives of soldiers, Para Military Org (PMO) personnel and loyalists to save the lives of the rest of the citizens which to Mr TSR is like procuring and selling  tons of salt and acid through the ministry of fertilizers and chemicals. God help us if we have the senior most IAS officer, ex cabinet secy, having his views like this and wanting to watch cricket when judgement of honorable SC in the case of the serving army chief DoB is being debated on national TV. He has shown what is the true worth of an IAS officer whose views with regard to matters safety, security, defense and honor of the country are no more than namak bazar.  Can we entrust the procurement of weapon systems in the hands of IAS people like Mr TSR ?

(c) Ms Renuka - When the most imp topic of defence procurement is being discussed, she wants to cover up the government incompetence by saying that our jawans are best in the world who can give their lives for the nation. What an amazing discovery ?. Even a child knows this. She has shown what the biggest national political party stands for in the  matters defense of the nation, "make the jawans die and the country will be at peace". What a shame.

The Remedy

(a) Integrate MOD and Armed Forces (AFs) in true letter and spirit. For every two tenures, an IAS person being inducted in the MOD must do one tenure in AFs field formation in the border area where the AFs are fighting the insurgency in jungles, mountains, snow and desert. It would be good for both the AFs and IAS. The AFs get fresh ideas from government perspective due to the experience of the IAS persons and IAS gets insight into AFs functioning.

(b) The uniformed men must be posted at all levels in the MOD not only to provide ready insight into specific nuances of the equipment and systems in the procurement issues but also the personnel issues. Better decisions will emerge.

(c) If the procurement decision making process is made of by the involvement of the men in uniform who are the actual users, very few such issues will be left to address.

(d) Wherever, scandals in defense procurement come up, IAS officers must face similar ruthless punishment as the men in uniform.

(e) The same four points above must be followed for the true integration of MHA and the PMOs so that IAS and politicians stop comparing the loss of precious lives to safeguard the rest of the lives of the citizens with chemicals and fertilizers bazar.

Dear honorable PM Sir, hope you are listening to this and for once will take the above action and not remain in denial mode.

With warm regards,

Col Mahesh Khera

Dear David

Thank you for your appreciation of this group's efforts. The apathy
and simply "get used to it" approach is frustrating. I want to repeat
here what another internet friend has emailed me to today morning
about a similar such hopeless / apathetic situation.

"I need to inject a strenuous objection to the response "get used to
it." which affects me much like the supposed red flag and the bull.  I
will stipulate the enormous odds that face whoever will  refuse to
"get used to it," but  we had  better remember that just about anyone
who has refused to "get used to" hundreds or thousands of hopeless
situations  throughout most of human history has faced impossible odds
except that in quite a few cases they  turned out not to be
impossible. Yes. this is a tough one.  They have all been tough.  The
truly hopeless response, however, is only surrender.  II'll stick with
Churchill…Never give in, Never give in Never never never NEVER. Losing
the fight is only defeat.  Get used to it is surrender."
