Re: [IAC#RG] READ THIS NOW - CORONA VIRUS

We should all be grateful to Sarabjitji for the timely information that the weapons of the Air Force , Army and Navy do not help fight the Corona virus. We would never have been able to work that out for ourselves !
I might add, nor does empty rhetoric help fight the virus. Instead of harping on what does not work, let us talk about what might work.
We should understand that we are in a warlike situation. The only option now is comply implicitly with the instructions - remain in isolation to the extent possible. For the present, that is the key for survival.  Any violations will have severe consequences-  it is too early to forget the Nizammuddin incident . The government really has no option but to use strict measures to ensure compliance to minimise the spread of the virus.
For our part, we must help the less privileged sections of the society to whatever extent we can. In Mumbai voluntary organisations have come up and are helping find shelters and food for migrant labourers. I am sure the same is happening in other states also. If  we are unable to work actively to help, let us contribute to the agencies that are providing help. And as has been repeated by leaders of all parties, let us pay our domestic servants, drivers, etc for the period that they are unable to work due to the lockdown to try and minimise their hardship.
And most important, let us salute the doctors, nurses, medical staff, police, conservancy workers and all those who are risking their lives so that we can remain safe in isolation. Sadly there are elements who obstruct these selfless persons from fulfilling their duties, and even worse, try to humiliate them. Let us condemn them unanimously.

So any prudent Govt. should plan to extended the lockdown till at least 15th May 2020.

However since human life is cheap in India, the banias will probably ensure that India is
open for business by 1st May 2020, if not sooner.

Per my discussions today in corridors of power, this is likely to be a rerun of DEMONETISATION. Expect announcements from Friday evening onwards.

Better to be safe than sorry.

1) Stock up on food and other essentials for 1 month

2) Stock up on cash, ATMs may go dry and banks may stop working.

3) Do not depend on digital systems, payment and internet. Today 1 major Telecom player seems likely to shut down due to stock market collapse and adverse SC judgment (or may sell discreetly to the Only Vimal group). Another mobile company in Delhi has shut down 80% of its towers in last 7 days, fired 50% staff and cant even pay electricity bills.

4) Hospitals are likely to fill quickly. In Delhi Kejriwal is likely to direct private hospitals to give free treatment in ICU, which is going to amplify the problem by 10 times.

[IAC#RG] AFTER SOUND NOW THE LIGHT SHOW, WHAT NEXT?

After asking us to clap our hands and bang metal on March 22nd, we are now told to light candles today for nine minutes. But will that candlelight uplift the spirit of the common man who is now so distraught?

Instead of wasting our time in such tomfoolery, let us today and every  pray for our doctors, nurses and support staff who, while risking their own lives, are caring for those infected with COVID-19. So many doctors have already lost their lives in this battle. Every Doctor has lived up to the Hippocratic Oath that guides the noble profession.

In this current crisis people are in no mood for empty rhetoric, but want direction and reassurance while wanting to know how the government plans to extricate the nation from this current economic morass and whether we can protect those thousands of jobs in the organized and unorganized sector. There can be no room for symbolism. The government must undertake concrete measures to ease the pain and suffering of the poor and impoverished while the focus undoubtedly has to be on the homeless.

May the candles that the nation has been called on to illuminate the darkness in our lives for nine minutes also shed the much  needed light on our rulers to guide them to a more effective way of dealing with this pandemic rather than some of the chaos that people have needlessly endured due to poor planning.

At this critical juncture in our history, in this matter of life and death situation sweeping across our nation and the world, every moment, every effort, every resource, every protective medical and scientific equipment must be concentrated on supporting our front line staff and our people with the sole aim of defeating the corona virus.

Lighting of candles represents rays of hope where there is nothing but darkness and may have the intention of providing a means of social strengthening. Let us hope that it is backed up by positive leadership and action, otherwise it may end up as merely a nine-minute wonder for some.

Our primary objective and priority must always be to ensure that all our people are kept safe, healthy, nourished and economically viable whilst at the same time meeting the World Health Organisation guidelines of safe distancing and personal hygiene.

As Edith Wharton the American novelist once observed. 'There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it'.

Re: [IAC#RG] NEED “CURFEW” ON DEBATES ON COVID 19 IN MEDIA AND SOCIAL PLATFORMS

Hi, there is an official website for communication on covid-19..
Also, lockdown wasn't planned in any country. To consult states who will oppose a humanitarian policy like CAA or NRC its a rough call to assume they will be responsible amid a pan epidemic situation like this. Especially with the "Corona Jihad" and Chinese being caught and arrested from mosques.

Although, maybe now with stats and some trending, we may have to urge focus on proper line of common communication from media houses as soon as we can manage stone pelter attacks on doctors and lone wolf attacks on the police trying to keep everyone safe while their own lives are at stake. Are we a mature public..?
just saying..

Anxious to fill the space in these "corona days" and probably with the good intention of spreading awareness about COVID 19 , print and visual media are organizing debates between "experts" and social platforms are full of "views" on cause and effect of coronavirus. This has now reached an alarming level, as most of such observations are poorly informed and without any detailed study and back up data.
One "expert" in TV debate in India has said that according to his calculation, around 55 lakh people would be affected by coronavirus in India by April.

Another "expert doctor" has said that coronavirus is already showing signs of reaching unmanageable level in India due to poor medical infrastructure facilities and lack of sanitary habits of many people and added that "writing is on the wall" .
Some "experts" have said that herbal medicines can cure coronavirus. Some suggested that spraying the mixture of turmeric and neem leaves in front of the house can help. Suggestions also have been made that "Keezhanelli" a traditional herb, can cure coronavirus disease.

Some "experts" have said that cleaning hands with medicinal soap would be necessary and others said that any soap would be adequate and some others said cleaning with clean water would be enough.

Some "experts" said that coronavirus would not affect when the atmospheric temperature would be around 35 deg. centigrade and therefore , in summer coronavirus would go away.

Some "experts" say that life of coronavirus is 14 days and some others say that it is less and some others say that it is more.

Some "experts" say that mask should be worn at all times and others say healthy people need not wear mask.
It should be kept in view that medical doctors and medical researchers are different. Doctors prescribe the medicine suggested or approved by medical researchers. In such circumstances, the views of the doctors need not always be considered as correct, as they have no research capability in the true sense of the term.

It is high time that government should declare that only announcements by the government should be publicized in the media and social platforms and not the views of the so called "experts".

Re: [IAC#RG] NEED “CURFEW” ON DEBATES ON COVID 19 IN MEDIA AND SOCIAL PLATFORMS

Probably 25th lock down was done in a little hurry and also it seems without consulting states which have better realisation of ground realities. There was no time to think and plan about the migrant and marginal labour and supply lines. Now for plans for gradual removal of restrictions after end of period of present lock out, PM has asked for views and proposals of the Chief Ministers.

I endorse your suggestion so that people are not misled.
However the government should also be alert to problems that arise. For over  2 days I had been raising the problem of migrated labour. The businesses who employed them suddenly abandoned them and left them to their own fate. The state governments too left them in the lurch. They started marching on empty stomach. The central government should have warned employers not to dismiss the workers. The state governments should have been warned to accommodate the workers in empty schools with social distancing. and to provide food. Suddenly these workers who had staked their life to do dangerous jobs for their employers staking their life for meagre wages were suddenly orphaned. For media they were interesting human interest stories. Media barons should have telephoned or emailed PM about the emergency. You would have watched how Delhi transport overcharged them by charging ₹30 cash and deposited them in Anand Vihar and left them high and dry. This joint neglect is now posing huge danger. Army should now manage them and transport them to their places. The country is full of empty schools to offer shelter but they have not been used.
Only Modiji can immediately help solve this countrywide problem. He has his heart in the right place.

[IAC#RG] Kejriwal’s address.

Kejriwal has scored with his ability to communicate. However he has gone too far in his offer to compensate landlords if tenants don't pay rent. This will open the Pandora's box.
1. The tenants may be tempted not to pay citing difficulties and landlord may rush to government for relief.
2. Tenants may pay and claim inability which the landlords may forward to government and claim compensation to be shared with the tenants.
3. Government is spending public money and first priority should be destitute sand have not. If landlord  has a property to let out, he is not such a needy person and can survive a few weeks by cutting unnecessary expenses. The State should not rush to fritter away it's scarce resources
