Re: [IAC#RG] caring for girls and women

Dear Sangeeta

1) Unfortunately there are too many well intentioned people in India who go running around like headless chickens or getting conned into fighting elections.

2) I hope you have read our IAC submissions to Justice Verma Committee and also our IAC charter. This IAC is not afraid to take definite stands on controversial issues.
If you haven't, these are the direct links.
3) As per the ITP Act, even if 2 "working women" (I won't call them prostitutes) share a flat/room which they use for business, it is a brothel and the landlord is a brothel-keeper.

4) So in effect the women/girls are caught between 2 rocks - a) live singly and operate and take all the attendant risks or b) operate out of a brothel. In effect its the existence of the law on the statute books which is causing this problem.

5) The other question we should actually ask is "Why should prostitution be allowed in a socialist welfare state ?"

Dear Mr Sarbajit,

I do agree with what you have written ,but what I was thinking is like you close the rats holes then rats will have no place to breed. At these places ,though I haven't visited but heard from people small girls are forcibly kept and tortured. So if the owners of these places are booked then I am sure the crime against these children will reduce if not come to end.
I had expressed my thought but it you feel its not ok then you can make a suggestion. What is important is to save these minor girls.I feel for them as I am a mother too.I may not be too wise but I have right intentions.

But I am so happy you spared your time at least, some don't even do that.

Regards.
