RE: [HumJanenge] "Corruption Free GDP Growth in India - Daya Nidhi Maran in Trouble"

Dear Col Khera,

Yes, its absolutely correct if e governance takes off , scope of corruption will definitely  reduce.  Thats why Team Anna wanted video recording of all its meetings with Govt which started in April. And the Govt  never agreed  so that it can back out from its promises as & when it wanted. We all have seen that exactly the same happened too.
Most politicians/bureaucrats donot want transparency & would like the adhocism of manual  working to continue so that  scope of corruption is always there.

Its heartening to see  Delhi Govt  implementing Charter of Duties for Govt servants ,at least in some of its Departments. There is a "Start" at last. Anna's Aug Kranti has already started showing results even before the law is enacted in Parliament. Shiela Dixit Govt  seems to have read the writing on the wall . Its trying to salvage its image sullied by CWG scam as well as image of Congress party which has taken a beating since April.

Tenure of current Standing Committee ,headed by Dr Singhvi, is going to be over shortly. It will be worth watching as to what the new Standing Committee does  on the resolution since it will have reps of all parties ,some of whom  are openly against this Janlokpal bill.

Warm Regards

Dear Friends,

We just heard that  PA and OSD to Daya Nidhi Maran have disclosed that Maran had secret meetings with Astro chief for buying out Aircel. Also, Maran refused  meetings to Aircel owner Siva. It is being alleged that Maran was a beneficiary of investment of around 600-700 Cr into his companies by Astro through the misuse of his powers as Minister of ICT. Aircel chief Maran has alleged that Maran forced him to sell his company to Astro by not allotting spectrum for 12 circles for two years which bled the company to death and Astro got the spectrum within a couple of months of buying out Aircel on the same application. The govt controlled CBI inquiry is on at a snail's pace.

Just imagine, if India was e governed, the following would have happened :-

   (a)   Indelible audio/video/data records of meetings between Maran and Astro chief would have been kept.
   (b)   Indelible audio/video/data records of rejection of Aircel chief request for meetings with Maran would exist.
   (c)   On Siva's complaint, indep investigating agency would have access to all the above records.
   (d)   The investigation would be concluded in about six months time with all evidence.
   (e)   Charge sheet filed, prosecution concluded in about three months time.
   (f)    Verdict announced by nine months.
   (g)   Appeals by Maran disposed off by higher courts in about three months time.
   (h)   Maran starts his punishment before 12 months.

But India is all manual in all public Procurement, Projects and Operations (PPO). It does not have strong laws to prosecute ministers, MPs, babus, police officials and judges quickly enough. We would have to wait for years for Govt to get justice for 2G and so many scams.

Broadband and e governance both enhance GDP growth and in conjunction with strong Lok Pal also help in timely delivery of justice if people commit such economic offences. In both the cases, the country gets a boost in the economic growth. 40 developed countries have thus increased their economic growth through e governance with telecom and IT in conjunction with strong laws and thus vastly improved the living standards of their people phenomenally.

You may deduce the final desirable laws which must be implemented in India for a corruption free economic growth.

Jai Hind and Jai Janata
