Re: [IAC#RG] Fwd: A POLICY TO IMPROVE THE STANDARDS IN GOVERNMENT OWNED EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS ?

Thanks, Sarbajit - my error - given the way the mails flow in the IAC system, there is no way to know if your email has been posted unless I get a reply from someone else on what I posted.

While agreeing 100% with you about world bank "economists", I am bemused by this:

"D) If you want a working "defn" of socialism, I suppose the Wikipedia
one is as good as any "Socialism is a social and economic system
characterised by social ownership of the means of production and
co-operative management of the economy". IAC also recommends that all
core industries (incl. education and health) should be "nationalised"."

This particular experiment has been tried in recent history - over a longish period of time - 1918 to 1990. It was called the Soviet Union and it ended up as a SPECTACULAR failure, while impoverishing its citizens and other citizens in the "union" during this period of time.

For you to recommend this to India TODAY as a solution to its ills beggars belief. Socialism, as defined by you, and practiced by the cohorts of Nehru have ruined India and robbed countless families and kids of an opportunity to lead a better life. Millions have died in India due to socialism.

And, Socialists are the enemies of India TODAY. They will keep it a poor, benighted nation.

I am unable to see how IAC can ever be for the good of India, if this is your foundational economic doctrine.

Thanks

Supratim

Dear Supratim

A) I did not "cut" our interaction, I suggested we take it to an
alternate venue (which is considerably more "unmoderated").

B) We would prefer that all complex / ideological discussions be taken
to the forum.

C) On how I/we DEFINE socialism, please understand that a "definition"
of socialism is NOT a "key issue" for us (may be it is for you). We
are NOT theoretical people defining some great eschatological event.
We spit on World Bank proxy economists who DEFINE that poverty is Rs.
816 per month or Rs. 5,000 per month etc. with full meals available at
Rs. 5 in Delhi.

D) If you want a working "defn" of socialism, I suppose the Wikipedia
one is as good as any "Socialism is a social and economic system
