Re: [IAC#RG] FYI: LG finally forwards IAC's 900 cr. UIDAI land scam complaint to DDA

I mean Voters ID Card - EPIC (Electoral Photo ID Card) issued by Election Commission.

The problem is that the CENTRAL Govt in FEDERAL Setup acts like a zamindar, all power no responsibility, everything delegated down to States.

Under the Births Act 1969, every registration for of a Birth at State/District Level is meant to be copied/maintained by a Central Registry.

So my proposal is that the EPIC (Voters Card) / Entry in Electoral Rolls will only be given for those born after 1970 against a copy of the extract from CENTRAL Registry.

About AADHAR what can I say, Dr Subramaniam Swamy in his SLP wants to convert India into a Police State by insisting on UID, Biometrics, fingerprints in voting machine etc. We all know who is behind Swamy for this.

Dear Mr. S. Roy
Am I to understand that by Voters Card you mean Aadhar Card then NO.
We have experimented with plethora of identity cards-starting the ration card, voters cards based on electoral rolls, passport,Pan Card and now Aadhar. Schemes were started and given up halfway. Does it not show that the Govt. is not sincere in having a true National Identity card. Or may be they are unclear how to tackle migrants from Nepal and Bangladesh. The thinking seems to be to make then residents. extend all benefits and blur the division between a resident and citizen gradually.

Your suggestion for birth certificates from 1969 is sound so far as it applies to people born thereafter. But if you take life expectancy to be around the same figure 69-70, it will leave out about 35% people born before that date. Secondly how sound is the system of reporting births and deaths  in rural areas  where even a police station is 5-7KM away
Aadhar which was started only for Govt. subsidies for poor people is being extended in scope and coverage. From optional it is being made mandatory without a mandate.
Another worrying aspect is seamless movement of people fro m private sector to govt. and from govt. to private sector without public scruitiny.
