Re: [IAC#RG] Shanti Bhushan in Sanjay Dutt's Defence !

I am against civilians bearing arms. Totally. I will try and find the link, but research from US shows that criminal and unintended deaths from guns were far more common than self-defense. There is a growing voice in the US too for gun control and Obama actually got re-elected with it as a stated agenda.

That said, an automatic rifle wouldn't be legal in the US either.

It is an absurd cacophony that continues to ignore that the law was broken - knowingly. The fact that other politicians were not prosecuted or that he has suffered much in personal lifes a good nature or ha does not mean that the law becomes a doormat to media pressure.

Nor is he the only person whose life got disturbed by the law - what a concept. Relationships with gangsters didn't disrupt it, the law did. One wonders what is so special about this man that he must get considerations above and beyond other citizens.

Personally, I do feel sympathy for him. I do understand the anger over the riots, though I doubt the self-defense idea. I understand why he did it. This does not mean that he was right in doing it. Or that he must escape partial punishment. Pardon for him will set a precedent which will have the elites chasing each other out of the gap as fast as they can. Raped by mistake, scammed by mistake, wrong accounts by mistake, murdered in a moment of anger, whatever. A cause will be found to hang innocence on.
