Re: [IAC#RG] MISGIVINGS ON MODI GOVERNMENT’S LAND ACQUISITION BILL JUSTIFIED

There is no thought for farmers.
There are innumerable ways to boost farm incomes. For eg.GHORA GHASS KHATA HAI ! Allowing EXPORT OF HORSES which is banned unnecessarily, CAN CHANGE THE VILLAGE. Our horses are BEAUTIFUL, INTELLIGENT AND UNIQUE AS THEY ONLY , RESPOND TO A SPOKEN COMMAND AND GIVE THEIR LIVES FOR THE MASTER LIKE CHETAK. IT IS ONLY NATURAL THAT AFTER GREEN AND WHITE ( MILK) revolution THE 3rd colour SAFFRON ( Basanti & Kesar) AGRICULTURAL REVOLUTION IN THE FORM OF HORSES MUST CARRY THE VILLAGE TO PROSPERITY !THAT TOO BY JUST EATING GRASS !''

There is the fundamental question as to whether taking away the agricultural land for setting up industry or housing projects is appropriate in a country like India,  which is essentially an agriculture oriented economy and  particularly when agriculture operations provide jobs to millions of people at unskilled and semi skilled level  in the densely populated country.  More than 75% of country's population constitute peasants and tribals, who have only traditional skill  in agricultural operations.

Modi government appears to think that industrial activity is as important as agricultural activity and converting some agricultural land for industrial projects is inevitable , if the country were to sustain economic growth to the desired level. Government further argues that it has put several safeguards to ensure that land acquisition would be for appropriate projects only  and will not result in undue benefit for corporate houses.

The question is whether Modi  government has exhausted all the options  for identifying  the available unutilized land for  industrial and development projects ,  that can avoid taking away the land from agricultural operations. One gets the impression that the government has not done this exercise adequately so far.

There are thousands of acres of industrial land presently occupied by many industries,  where only a portion of the land is utilized and other land remains unused. There are many sick projects which has been remaining closed with hundreds of acres of land that are not presently put to any use.   There are many  educational institutions with hundreds of acres of land , where only a few acres are utilized. There are also land where the  site is not suitable for agricultural operations. The government  is not known to have enumerated  such unutilized land available in the country. The government cannot say today that the country does not have such unutilized and wasted land.

Amongst the existing industries and in special economic zones , the government should conduct a land auditing to identify the unused land and force the industries  to give up such land for setting up new projects. This is possible.

The genuine question is why agricultural land should be taken away without putting the unutilized and  wasted land  for use for setting up industrial projects.

Should the interest of agriculture be sacrificed for the sake of industrial growth is a very valid question. People cannot live without food but they can live without cosmetics and automobiles.

Industrial growth should be complimentary to the agricultural growth and it cannot be allowed to become a substitute for agricultural growth even to a limited extent. Such move is bad in principle and contrary to the sentiments of large section of the country men.

Above all, the potentials for exploiting agricultural operations for India's economic growth with equanimity is no less than what industrial operations can achieve for the country.

RE: [IAC#RG] Faction war in AAP

16/3/15

The discussion has become Delhi election or AAP centric- Blind followers of AAP on one side and others who keep their eyes open and judge issues on merits- critisize AAP where it goes wrong and support where it is due.
So far very little positives have become visible on issues of governance or eradication of corruption in Municipal bodies.
Free water and electricity is not positive because even those who can afford will enjoy it.
Stopping demolition is not positive till you find way to stop encroachments. It has been a matter monitored by the Supreme Court.
What are the credentials of AK compared to Prashant Bhusan and Yogendra Yadav. Who knew AK before India against corruption Jan Andolan of 2011. It is not Anna Hazare who helped AK to acquire a public face but India Against Corruption Movement with its total focus on corruption which had touched the sympathetic nerve of the whole nation.Even Anna Hazare acquired the status of a national leader from that movement. It is unfortunate that it could not be sustained and in my opinion the blame to an extent lies with AK because he took the bait knowingly or otherwise offered by Congress Party through Kapil Sibal to join the politics and clean
the system of governance. In hindsight it seemed to be a clever ploy to diffuse the public anger against corruption. Perhaps it was all stage managed.
AAP slogans of help to the deprived and Indira Gandhi,s Garibi Hatao sound similar a s hinted by S. Roy.

Those who say AAP is anti-communal forget that one day before the election Imam bukhari made an appeal for muslims to vote for AAP . AAP denied they approached the Imam, but the cat was already out of the bag and susequent events and results of election exposed their lies.
AK is very vocal against Ambanis but complete silence about jindals and Birlas. You may draw your own conclusions.

Very valid points

At the same time - entire AAP leadership's handling is questionable - u can't be slugging it out in public and releasing selective pieces of information for public consumption from either side.

If the leaders aren't mature enough to be able come to a resolution then they need to figure out how to do that

It is certainly not the job of politicians.

Prashant has raised very valid points to which AAP is yet to respond. Is it against the ideology of AAP to not talk about internal democracy, elections of office-bearers rather than appointments? Is it against the ideology of AAP to not raise the issue of 2 crore dubious funding (I did the primary research of that)? What is the big deal about producing the donor(s) before the media if you are above board? Is it against the ideology of AAP to not publish the monthly details of expenses? Is it against the ideology of AAP to skirt the issue of RTI within the party? What is the official designation or position of Dilip Pandey, Ashutosh, Ashish Khetan in the party? How did they get where they are? How much salary was Dilip being paid? What is his source of income? Please read the party's constitution vis-à-vis the reality on the ground.

Mr. Machhan's email vaguely talks of personal ambitious, ideals, values etc. without specifically pointing out the points which in his view must not have been raised.

Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav should go. In the name of AAP, they are trying to ride on the credentials of Arvind Kejriwal to fulfill their personal political ambitions. If they were true to the AAP ideals, they would have gone among the weak and deprived and worked towards the betterment of their lives. Instead, they have unleashed divisive forces and hurt the cause of the people by creating conditions where the focus of the party is divided to these mundane, inter-personal issues. In the process they are doing a great disservice to the nation by strengthening the corrupt and the communal, and all those values, which the AAP had set out to defeat. They should first work towards finding solutions to the problems of the man on the street, instead of looking for political posts. Personal ambition is fine, but it can't be fulfilled at the cost of the very ideals they had set out to promote.

I also wish AAP well and will be happy if it can honour its 70 commitments given to the people.Being  a realistic, I  wonder where the huge amount of funds needed to implement the proposals will come from. Most of the Delhities have made the UT home after coming from various states and most of them are not aware that their everyday requirements come from other states including PAANI -BIJLI.I am told that for reducing electricity bills and free water Delhi Administration need about 1600 crore  in a financial year. But this amount will not decrease next year onward since input cost for generating electricity and treatment of raw water is expected to go up every year.Delhi govt will have to implement 7th Pay Commission Recommendation. It is expected next year. This was announced by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley while presenting the General Budget in LS on February 28.Since Delhi govt employees in the   UT  are given central govt"s pay scales, the 7th Pay Recommendation will be implemented .Besides AAP has promised to set up new colleges, schools, hospitals. The central govt has its own limitation and is committed to bridge the budgetary  deficit in phases .Govts all over the world including erstwhile Communist regimes of the Soviet Union ,other socialist countries and even China are reducing SUBSIDIES to its citizens.

If AAP govt goes on giving subsidies, all development projects will come to a standstill and new ones cannot be taken up due to shortage of funds.Even market borrowing will not be possible as bankers and investors cannot be convinced about the return of their principals from a govt which is broke. And that is why some people  WHO say AAP HAS SOLD A DREAM TO THE GULLIBLE  SEEM TO BE CORRECT.

With Good wishes to the CM & and his team

Delhi is not an exception suffering from these shortages. All metropolitan cities suffer from these shortages. I consider Delhi elections as a watershed event and its success or failure will have far reaching consequences. It is for this reason I hope that AAP should have deliverable targets. For this reason I am looking forward to budgets the State and the Centre.

I normally silently read most emails received in this group but the email from Raj Machhan warrants a reply.

Prashant and Yogendra have their own credentials and do not need Arvind as a prop. The former doesn’t even have personal political ambitions. Government’s role is not to do charity but to institutionalise systems so that the society either has no weak and deprived people or it has processes to take care of them.

Please read the party’s constitution vis-à-vis the reality on the ground.

Mr. Machhan’s email vaguely talks of personal ambitious, ideals, values etc. without specifically pointing out the points which in his view must not have been raised.

How would we stop ENCROACHMENTS?.

Or else we should expect CHAOS as non payment of electricity bills would cause.May be this is their PHILOSOPHY, at least of some of the founding members of AAP.

God help DELHITES.

Kejriwal is a consummate politician. Ultimately the people of delhi are going to suffer. They eill have to contend with him for the next five years. I wish them luck.

Dear Mr. Kumar,

I am not being pessimistic but being realistic knowing the financial constraints and the outlays needed to achieve those targets.

I have been watching the progress of AAP since its inception hoping it to be a step closer to participatory democratic set up and have high expectations. There is no denying that Delhi needs more schools, colleges, hospitals Public toilets and bijli paani for the

rapidly increasing population. I  am only curious about the source of funds which you can raise either through taxation or c ental assistance. Delhi is not an exception suffering from these shortages. All metropolitan cities suffer from these shortages. Mumbai has much bigger population living in slums worse than the life in unautorised colonies of Delhi. But the people pay more for electricity and other civic services Kolkatta is equally in dire need of resources.

I consider Delhi elections as a watershed event and its success or failure will have far reaching consequences. It is for this reason I hope that AAP should have deliverable targets. For this reason I am looking forward to budgets the State and the Centre.

Dear Shri J K Gaur, Your sense of time is baffling as you are distributing our targets statistically. Believe in a positive future of Delhi residents with needed schools, hospitals, toilets, CCTV and Pani-Bijli. Do not get so pessimistic. AAP is a party of concerned and intelligent citizens. They are not professional politicians engaged in Jumlebaji. Regards, Anand Kumar
