PLEASE DO NOT SPREAD WRONG AND MALICIOUS INFORMATION WITHOUT CHECKING FACTS. There cannot be a more irresponsible thing than this at present time. What are you trying to achieve by misinforming people?  Below is an article in Hindu News paper -   one of the most respected Dailies (dt 3 Jan 2021) . It clearly says Covishield had been approved by the Drug Controller of India. For Heaven's shake DONOT act stupid and Idiotic way which can affect the life of many people. Chennai, Covishield is used for vaccination in all Govt Hospitals and Serum Institute of India is the biggest vaccine manufacturer in the world. My family and I had this vaccine from the Govt hospital.

Vaccines by Bharat Biotech and Serum Institute of India (SII) were formally approved by the Central Drugs and Standards Committee (CDSCO) on Sunday. 

P.S. What Rubbish is this about Melinda Gate divorcing Bill? They are still happy with each other.

[IAC#RG] NOW A RAY OF HOPE FOR OUR COUNTRY

For the BJP the resounding defeat in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala has come a cropper. The divisive politics of the saffron brigade has been exposed. These results usher a ray of hope against the current authoritarian and tyrannical regime which has torn to pieces the fundamental principles of our sacred Indian constitution.

The manner in which we have sadly been witnessing the Independence of the Election Commission absolutely compromised is very disturbing and a matter of great concern. The skewed move last month  in considering the name of Sunil Arora as the Governor of Goa just days after his retirement as Chief Election Commissioner was in utter bad taste and utterly inappropriate. 

Over the last few years our nation has been ebbing away from democracy and those cherished values. We need to now toil unitedly for the restoration of institutions whose autonomy has been high-handedly breached. 

The basic fundamental principles of our nation being a secular democratic Republic must be protected and preserved at all cost. Our country's secular fabric cannot continue to remain ruptured. Unity in Diversity must always remain our strength and pilar of hope.

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and his team had burnt the midnight oil to draft that great Indian Constitution to keep our country secular and democratic for posterity. They must never have visualized that thick skinned persons without integrity would ever be occupying seats of Power.

Cal Thomas the popular American political commentator once observed "One of the reasons people hate politics is that truth is rarely a politician's objective, election and power are".

The BJP should take heed of the relevant famous quote of the late US President Abraham Lincoln 'You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time'

[IAC#RG] ENGLISH IS ENGLISH! NOT SIMPLE OR COMPLEX

A social media friend from South Goa who is an undergraduate and who I have personally not yet met but only have corresponded with over the internet for about five years has sent me a message which has left me in a quandary.

While thanking me for my writings which he says he regularly reads without fail, he has requested me to try and write in simple English.

Thank God I was not educated at Oxford but went to just normal schools and colleges. In fact my formative years in the third and fourth standard of schooling was at a little Government run Primary school at Ribandar. I was admitted there so that my Aunt who was a teacher there could keep a watchful eye on my unending adventures.

All through my academic years, I was so blessed with good and dedicated teachers who cared for and guided me all through my student days. On the extra curricular side, they encouraged me to participate in public speaking and essay contests. They were always a source of inspiration being friends rather than mere teachers. What ever knowledge I was able to assimilate and acquire to use in life, I owe it all to my dear teachers who were very caring and patient despite my always being a very challenging student.

Now coming back to the request to pen in simple English, it may be too late at 60 to return to basic schooling. But, if the Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao and even Chief Minister Pramod Sawant don't have to struggle in understanding what I write, I hope my social media pal from South Goa will try and cope with the situation. May be we could bridge the gap once the new Zuari bridge is operational.

In all that I candidly and fearlessly write, I attempt to ensure that nobody needs the assistance of a dictionary to read and understand the thoughts I express. I always aim for clarity, fact and sincerity. David Gerrold an American novelist echoed my thoughts when he said 'The single most important lesson of effective communication is this: Focus on clarity. Concentrate on precision. Don't worry always about constructing beautiful sentences. Beauty comes from meaning, not language. Accuracy is the most effective style of all".

Have at all times believed that the Pen is always mightier than the Sword.  May it always be so.

[IAC#RG] THE MENACE OF COVID-19

We will soon be half way through 2021, but the dreadful menace of COVID – 19 deadly virus continues relentlessly to haunt the entire world, the whole of mankind.

It persists to be a very daunting and unpredictable scenario, no one knowing what is next in store. Even the scientists and experts seem to be dazed and lost in these uncertain times.

In India, just as we were trying to believe that the worst was over and normalcy was returning, we are hit with yet another wave of the vicious kind, which has yet again thrown everything again out of gear. And we know not how many more waves of this pandemic are yet to come and when, if ever, this nightmare will end.

For the school going children the online classes has been a thing they least expected, and they know not when they will resume their school life which cannot be replaced by any other form of learning. For the toddlers who may have been gearing up for their first nursery classes it is still worse -- missing the wide world outside during their formative years.

We have lost so many friends and loved ones to this pandemic, without being able to bid them farewell due to the restrictions of the so called SOPs in force. We can only pray for our beloved ones who departed in various countries around the world.  

In our lifetime we have not witnessed such a tragedy, never one of this magnitude, which has struck the entire globe, sparing no corner, distinguishing no caste, creed or your financial status. Places of worship and the Temples of Justice have also been invaded.

The pandemic has affected the entire of mankind leaving everyone perplexed and dazed with no answers but only questions galore, while the scientists are on their job and the virus confusing them every now and then, by striking in different variants.

Nobody knows what lies ahead with the future ever so uncertain. Even being debated now is the efficacy of the vaccines that have been launched to combat if not restrict the virus.

The global economy has taken an unprecedented severe beating while businesses all over have had to brace the brunt with many small establishments having to close shop.

Ironically, in Goa, the only thing almost unaffected has been the very lucrative narcotic trade and also the world's oldest profession -- both seem to be merrily thriving defying the pandemic.

Family functions and community occasions all have had to be restricted as a precaution. Buying the right gift for an occasion had been always an arduous task but during this pandemic a pair of face masks has become the ideal gift one can offer.

While everyone's earnest hope is that life returns to its normalcy, we can only pray that it so happens and this catastrophic nightmare ends. May it be soon.
