The newspapers and TV reports and Naidu's own words at a RSS affiliate conference are quite clear.

These kind of rash political statements from a Constitutional functionary are all manifestations of a fascist and communal bankrupt ideology which proclaims that the "saffron is India's national flag and Vande Mataram is India's true anthem - Bhayyaji Joshi, Sarkaryavah of RSS",

What is this nonsense being spouted by Vankaiah Naidu that Vande Mataram only means "maa tuzhe salam" ie. saluting the motherland? It is nothing of the sort.

The historical fact is that British rulers were trying to impose their "God Save the Queen" as India's national anthem and demanding that Indians be forced to sing it. The collaborationist RSS leadership (all loyal worshippers of Queen Mother who never wanted India's independence) foresaw that the Indian people would never bow to foreign Queen Mother instead suggested to their British masters that Vande Mataram should be made national anthem so that Indians would be saluting the British Mother Empress indirectly.

Naidu's comments show even after 70 years of independence Sanghis still want foreign rule of India.

This is a serious non-political discussion mailing list for intellectuals of India Against Corruption, and you are insulting our membership by describing them as 'Pakis'.

If you are correct then you, and the Vice President, are insufficiently informed about the National Anthem.

Official orders and instructions of the Govt of India (on website of MHA) clearly indicate that it is the National Anthem, ie. JanGanMan, which is for respectful salutation of the motherland when acheieved by mass singing.

These official orders also indicate about the compulsory playing of the National Anthem  with the "National Salute" ie.the Command "Rashtriya  Salute – Salami Shastr".

Dr. Roy is correct that the Vande Mataram is neither the National Anthem nor the National Song and there are no orders of Govt of India to regulate the compulsory playing/singing of Vande Mataram and it's singing cannot be forced on the citizens.

So the "problem" many patriotic Indians have with the compulsory singing / utterance of the Vande Mataram is that it implies "bowing" to some mythical Mother Goddess and thereby disrespecting that one and only protector and unifying power of India who is praised in our National Anthem.

No one can doubt nationalist thinking of Bengali folk in the pre Independence times and post.
Without knowing much details abt the actual happenings in those times, one thinks that we shd give Jana Gana Mana due respect.
What one finds totally abhorrent is JNU type of Politics which is not 'free wheeling' but SELF SERVING to say the least.
I happened to be there for a while in the 80s and it's a picnic out there.
Studies shd be regulated and time bound.
This one says with respect to current times with World Economy looking towards India as a viable option.
I think its a opportunity of a life time and instead if getting diverted by our internal politics of Sibal ji and likes we shd look ahead.
The above is said in my capacity as a common man who has limited understanding of high politics.

Nothing wrong with that as per business rules of the local body. Both the national anthem and national song are sung in parliament of India every day of the session.

 

Thus it becomes a political issue.
