Re: [IAC#RG] Sandhiv Pragya Singh Thakur

I think there is an important issue here. Some crimes are non-bailable. On this forum we have been saying that there should be no bail for sexual assault/rape. Is terrorism not an even worse crime? That is the reason why we have separate laws since investigations take time. A terrorist, convicted or not can engineer another incident when out on bail. A terrorist like a rapist is a sick person. Sadhvi Pragya Singh's case is very high profile and hence being discussed on several forums. A Vidyut has brought out, we need to apply human rights across the spectrum to even petty criminals who languish in jails as their cases do not come up for hearing. I am not even talking of religion here. At one point there was a proposal to avoid arrest for petty crimes. The lawyer community was up in arms! Pavan Nair
PS In lighter vein, Ram Singh from across the grave. ' India is truly a free country. You are free to rape, kill and even commit suicide in custody'.

Supreme Court rejected the bail application of Pragya Singh in September 2012.

If there's no bail, fast track hearing should be allowed.

For all prisoners or only her? What is your interest in protecting in this particular terror suspect? So far you only are saying it should be done without pointing out where she has been wronged.

Do you dislike law enforcement and judiciary uniformly or only when the accused are those you'd like impunity for? From what I read of her case, her every allegation has been heard by the court and dismissed. The Human Rights Commission was looking into allegations of custodial toruture. If threat of torture is grounds for bail then Ram Singh wouldn't need to "suicide" - he could have got bail. He had broken hands too?

What nonsense is this?

If she is being tortured, then it is against law, we can bring pressure for torture to stop. Custodial torture must stop for all - Kashmriris and tribals included, not just her. But we don't seem to have that big a heart do we? Just release the one accused our heart bleeds for. Do what you will with the rest.

Again, why is this partisan crap the business of India Against Corruption?
